When it comes to a hardy, highly productive, and delicious Strawberry variety, the Fort Laramie Strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa 'Fort Laramie') fits the bill! These tenacious, Everbearing plants will impress and excite you and your family members year after year as they produce delectable Strawberries!

Fort Laramie Strawberries are some of the largest that home growers can produce. These bright berries often rival the size of ping pong balls. They do take on a classic strawberry shape with pointed ends in a ravishing scarlet red. Fort Laramie berries also glow a bright and cheerful red, so you won't miss them when your plants are ready to harvest.

As hardy perennials with energetic runners, Fort Laramie's multiply throughout summer and fall, increasing your yield of honey-sweet strawberries that are perfect for canning or snacking on fresh. As for flavor, the Fort Laramie Strawberry's sweetness and fresh tones are impeccable.

Heavy late spring crop, sporadic throughout the summer, and another crop late summer into fall! When these berries become ready to harvest, their red flesh glows and your mouth will water as your tastebuds await the burst of sweet juice. These berries are somewhat floral and taste amazing after a quick rinse!

You can freeze them and use them in smoothies or on top of vanilla ice cream. Many gardeners use their Strawberry bounty to make homemade jam (a great holiday gift for friends, neighbors, and co-workers). Because the Fort Laramie Strawberry produces so heavily, you can try these berries any way that strikes your fancy and still have some to spare.

While not the showiest flowers in your garden, the Fort Laramie Strawberry does bloom with daisy-white blossoms with golden centers. These peppy flowers will keep your local bees and other pollinators cheerful and busy. As cold weather arrives, these Strawberry Plants begins to blush. Its peppy green foliage transforms into a fiery red.

Planting and Application:

While Fort Laramie Strawberries are best known for their frost tolerance and enticing berries, these plants are also an attractive addition to the vegetable garden or flower beds. A garden isn't complete without Strawberries, and the Fort Laramie Strawberry is a beautiful and tasty choice. Add a bit of fun to your vegetable garden by devoting a section to Fort Laramie Strawberries and make it easy to harvest by planting your Strawberry plants in rows.

If you love plants that do double duty, these will make your day!

These low-growing Strawberries create a carpet of bright green. Fort Laramie Strawberries make a striking and dense groundcover. With this variety's long-lasting bright green coloration, remarkably shiny foliage, and baskets full of berries, you'll wonder why gardeners choose any other groundcover. Over time, your Fort Laramie Strawberries will fill in densely as runners take hold and erupt into their own fruit-producing plants.

If you're looking to plant a personal strawberry patch, the Fort Laramie Strawberry is an excellent choice! This variety sends out abundant runners that root easily and will soon begin producing their own plump berries.

These lovely plants will fill in unsightly areas of your garden bed and provide a lively texture to embankments or as a front border. Because of its sturdy nature, the Fort Laramie Strawberry is ideal for highly trafficked areas.

They are also self-pollinating, so you can relocate your new seedlings to individual pots or another spot in your yard. Your Fort Laramie Strawberries will soon double in quantity. You can use the runners in pots on your porch or in hanging pots on your patio.

If you don't mind sharing, songbirds also enjoy snacking on these sweet berries. If you do mind sharing, add some stones painted red and about the size of your strawberries around your plants. These will keep the birds busy.

  • Cheerful Brilliant White Flowers
  • Deep Red Large Wedge-Shaped Fruit
  • Wonderful Honey-Sweet Strawberry Flavor!
  • Long Bountiful Everbearing Harvest

#ProPlantTips for Care:

When it comes to keeping your Strawberry Plants happy, you can practically get away with planting them and leaving them alone until harvest time arrives. Fort Laramie Strawberries are very low-maintenance and thrive in a wide range of conditions.

They produce best with full sun and sharply drained soil. Even watering during fruiting periods will keep your plants healthy and your yields high. Keep your Fort Laramie Strawberry plants well-watered from spring into fall before they go dormant.

These tough plants can survive some of the coldest winters, and come back ready to fill your summer and fall with scrumptious, juicy berries. The Fort Laramie isn't bothered when the mercury drops below zero. They do appreciate mulch around the plants to keep your plants stress-free.

If runners root where you do not want them, you can pull them and move them. Rake through or trim back plants after the foliage has yellowed or in the early spring before new growth emerges.
