An early bloomer, Dwarf Pink Flowering Almond wakes up from dormancy early. Fabulous, fluffy blooms held on bare branches help your whole neighborhood welcome spring each year!

This was a favorite shrub of Thomas Jefferson and he planted it extensively at his Monticello estate. Dwarf Pink Flowering Almond has been delighting gardeners in the United States in the late 1700's.

You'll appreciate this compact shrub with its bounty of slender stems. It's hardy, but looks delicate!

Dwarf Pink Flowering Almond really knows how to put on a beautiful spring show with masses of double pink rosebud flowers held on bare branches. When laden with pink blossoms, these graceful branches arch to the ground under the weight of the spring bloom.

Butterflies and honey bees adore the blooms as much as you will! Plant these for a pretty display, and you'll do your part to support your critical local beneficial pollinators.

As the season's new foliage emerges, the shrub showcases shiny, dainty leaves. Over the season, they add a brilliantly soft texture to your landscape.

You probably won't see the tiny, dark red fruits that develop later...but songbirds are sure to take notice. When fall temperatures dip, the leaves develop coppery-yellow tones for a spicy autumnal look.

How to Use Dwarf Pink Flowering Almond in the Landscape

This petite cultivar fits just about anywhere. You can grow it in full sun, or partial shade; planted either in the ground or in a showy series of outdoor containers.

Garden landscape artists weave these charming shrubs into every garden bed. This is a time-tested method to pull together your entire design in a coordinated way.

They look incredible when used in a mass planting. Line the edges of your modern shrub border with two staggered rows planting in a zigzagging pattern.

Space the shrubs 30 inches apart for a solid fill. Add additional rows to bring soft color and texture to an open area.

Spruce up your foundation planting with their help. Plant a single row as a low hedge along your front walkway or plant in front of mature evergreen shrubs.

Try an informal grouping in a new lawn planting to boost curb appeal. Or add a bold pair of outdoor containers on either side of your front door.

Dwarf Pink Flowering Almond is a perfect "Thiller" to use on a porch, balcony, deck or patio. They are a lovely addition to courtyard plantings, too!

Repeat them in the dappled shade of a woodland margin. Draw the eye along a planned path with their prolific flowering display.

You'll need to host annual Spring Flings to celebrate the start of a new season. Serve either hot cocoa or iced lemonade during this fickle season!

The burst of spring color is a welcome attraction. Use this as an accent plant in a Zen Garden; or as a focal point in a Meditation Garden.

You can even put them to work hiding your air conditioner. The dense branch structure makes this utilitarian eyesore disappear from view!

#ProPlantTips for Care

Enjoy this pretty plant for many years with the proper care requirement. They need at least four hours of sunshine a day, but can tolerate full sunlight with ease.

Because it's cold hardy to zone 4, the Pink Flowering Almond has become a popular addition to the cold country landscapes. Plant in full sun for best results in colder growing zones.

Select this plant only if you have well-drained soil. Dwarf Pink Flowering Almond—though tough—must have well-drained soil.

Keep them in containers or raised beds if you have poor drainage. You can also add more soil to three feet high and 18 inches wide for a planting mound.

Otherwise, it's a widely adapted plant and easy to grow. Apply a moderate amount of water consistently through the summer months.

Use a three-inch layer of mulch to keep the root system cool and moist, pulling it back from the stems. Feed it a good quality fertilizer for flowering shrubs following directions...and please keep nitrogen-rich lawn fertilizers far away from them to protect the blooms.

Prune it right after flowering to keep the plant size in check. Remove a few of the thickest, oldest stems at ground level to renew the next year's flower wood.

The lovely Dwarf Pink Flowering Almond has many very admirable features. Don't miss out on its benefits in your space...order from our small shrub experts today!
