Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Every family has one person that just doesn't quite fit in. The Green Pillar® Pin Oak Tree (Quercus palustris 'Green Pillar') is a member of the Oak family (Also known as Quercus palustris 'Pringreen' in the industry). Unlike the wide and expansive traditional Oak form, this variety is narrow, tall, and architectural. It's a tree that adds height and impact to any landscape!

The Green Pillar® Pin Oak has dark green to olive green foliage with deep lobes. These leaves create a dappled display of greens that shine with a glint of gloss. Once fall comes around, you will want to take a moment away from the hustle each day to watch it blush to a vivid and vibrant umber before transforming into a bright red.

Most notable of all is the Green Pillar® Pin Oak's dramatic form. It reaches straight up toward the sky and keeps a narrow, columnar form. How does it manage to stay on the straight-and-narrow? Its branches grow vertically, reaching as high up as they possibly can. The dried foliage clings to the tree through the winter to protect next year's leaves, remaining cold-hardy throughout USDA planting zones 4 to 8.

Landscape Application:

This Oak is a one-of-a-kind tree that looks like it was designed by Dr. Seuss yet adds charm to your personal skyline! It makes a wonderful choice as a property-line planting that offers privacy and a manicured appearance. Green Pillar® is also fantastic as a windbreak tree!

The Green Pillar® Pin Oak creates wild contrast in height and form when used in the landscape! Growing 50 - 60 feet in height, the spread of this slimmer Oak is just 20 - 25 feet wide! Go ahead and use yours as a prominent specimen and lawn tree, or go big and use this columnar Pin Oak as a street tree!

You can use this stunning ornamental Oak tree to flank your driveway or as a specimen if you are short on space in the yard or should you want to keep more sunny areas in your landscape to enjoy growing more veggies or full-sun flowers. Trim extra weight off branches that don't conform to the upright nature.

  • Green Leaves With Deep Lobes & Pointed Ends
  • Tall & Narrow
  • Radiating Umber Fall Color Ages To Bright Red
  • Excellent Height Yet Stately Choice &  Small Footprint
  • Acorns For Wildlife
  • Dried Foliage Persists All Winter
  • Fantastic Street & Shade Trees, Hedges, Windbreaks, & Specimen Trees

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Oak trees need full sun to grow their best and need well-drained soil locations. Provide regular moisture and use deep waterings to encourage deep roots. A deep root system means your Oak will be more drought-tolerant once established. Prune if needed in late winter to remove broken branches and balance out the canopy for symmetry.

  • Need Full Sun
  • Well-Drained Soil
  • Moderate Moisture Needs
  • Prune When Dormant
  • Easy To Grow

You'll be speechless when you see how tidy and attractive the Green Pillar® Pin Oak Tree grows! This statuesque tree is ready to turn heads in your yard. Order yours now at NatureHills.com!
