Bush Honeysuckles loves full sun and you will have the very best foliage color by planting yours where it will get 6 or more hours of sun a day, however, it will also perform well in partially shady areas at the cost of some of those adorable flowers and the intensity of color. Cold-hardy native cultivars in USDA zones 3 through 7, these shrubs are not particular on soil type, any well-drained soil is fine! Low moisture requirements and adaptability mean these are easy-care and low-maintenance shrubs.

Every other year, add a top dressing of a three-inch layer of arborist mulch. You'll keep the root system cool and moist. Mulch between plants also helps keep new mass plantings weed-free. Naturally shapely, you can easily keep them manicured with regular pruning in early spring to shape or shorten them. Or, let it do its thing for a more natural look.
