Azure Rush Geranium (Geranium x 'Azure Rush') is a beautiful way to suppress weeds. It's also a superlative choice for butterflies.
Azure Rush Geranium is a sport from Rozanne Geranium with shorter internodes. This keeps the plant compact, neater and lower growing,
The lighter blue flowers are paler than Rozanne, too. Pair both varieties together for a wonderful contrasting display that will pick up the darker veins of Azure Rush.
There is something very restful about pale powder blue and this petite groundcover really delivers. Let it soften the edge of your garden beds and borders; and spill over the side of your retaining walls.
Because Azure Rush Geranium grows in either full sun or part shade, it is perfect for use in mass plantings where you have well-drained soil. Space them 12 inches apart on center, then mulch between plants.
Azure Rush is amazing in drifts at the edge of a woodland, or underplanted beneath ornamental flowering trees. Start with one on either end, and double and triple up near the center.
For a more natural look, keep the lines curving and vary the spacing between the plants and use a gentle zigzag planting pattern. They'll also look fresh and modern planted in crisp, clean lines, if you prefer.
Prune the foliage down to an inch in length in late fall. In spring, gently rake out fallen leaves to tidy up...just don't pull too hard.
