Autumn Blaze® Maple is a hard one to go wrong with, and it sounds like yours is off to a good start. Thanks for the note, Scott. Give it a season or two to settle in and the fall color will really reward your patience.

Autumn blaze maple tree

My tree is doing great! It's putting on new leaves.

New leaves are always a good sign, and Autumn Blaze Maple is one that really hits its stride once it settles in. As it gets established, consistent watering through the first season or two will help it build a strong root system before putting on its full show of fall color. Thanks for the update, Janice. Autumn Blaze Tree 4'-5' container Beautiful

Trees look extremely healthy and easily advertised height. Look forward to buying more from this company.

Autumn Blaze Maple is a great choice, and it sounds like yours arrived in solid shape and ready to get established. They tend to take off quickly once roots settle in, so you should start seeing real growth by next season. We look forward to helping you add more to your landscape, Jason. Thanks for planting with us.

Beautiful autumn blaze

This Autumn Blaze maple arrived in perfect condition. I planted this tree the day after it arrived & it looks amazing in the yard.. It was already fully leafed & growing & looks to be very happy in its permanent location & growing. Thanks for sending me such a beautiful tree

Planting it the day after arrival is exactly the right move, and it sounds like the tree barely skipped a beat. Autumn Blaze maples settle in fast when they go straight from the box into the ground like that. As it matures you will really start to see that fall color come on strong. Thanks for sharing, Shane, and enjoy the shade ahead.

Don't be discouraged

I bought a #5 in 2021.
It arrived well packed. I was in shock that it looked like a 5 ft. stick.
Fast forward 4 years, it is thriving.
It is approximately 20 feet tall and healthy.

Hi Johnny, Time and patience pays off! Thank you for the review and for sharing the photo of your impressive Autum Blaze Maple tree - it is looking gorgeous, great work! Thanks again - Nature Hills Customer Support

Very Fast Growing Tree

I purchased this tree (5-6 foot) August 2022. It arrived late in the day and it was raining pretty hard so we unpacked it (which was packed & shipped very nicely) & put it in a bucket of water until the next day when it stopped raining. It was a big root ball which was impossible to find any ends to spread out but followed all other directions to a tee and also gave it lots of water. It is now July 2023, not quite a year later & it has grown over 3 feet and is still growing! Can't wait to see the pretty leaves this Fall! I wish I could post pictures lol I love it, we will have shade on the front of our house in no time! Thank you Nature Hills!

Hi Stacey,

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful update! We’re thrilled to hear your tree has grown over 3 feet in less than a year—that’s truly impressive growth and a testament to your careful care. It sounds like you handled the wet arrival conditions perfectly by keeping the root ball hydrated and following the planting instructions closely. Those thoughtful efforts make all the difference in nurturing a healthy tree.

For the upcoming seasons, keep an eye on consistent watering, especially during dry spells, and consider adding mulch around the base to help retain soil moisture and regulate temperature. We’d love to see how your shade tree progresses—if you decide to share pictures in the future on social media or with us, don’t hesitate; we enjoy celebrating each customer’s plant journey.

Thank you again for trusting Nature Hills; we’re excited for you to enjoy a cooler, greener front yard soon!

Autumn Blaze Maple

Shipped on Tuesday & I had it Thursday. It came in a very nice sturdy box & was in pretty good shape. I cut a few leaves that were turning brown & a couple looked like a bug had chewed them. Mine is about 5 ft. tall. It didn't arrive until 8 pm on Thursday so it was in a bucket of water overnight & it perked up pretty good. Wish I could submit a picture. I would recommend buying.

This is an incredible tree. We have only had it in the ground a couple of weeks and it is already covered in new leaves. This came to us packed really well and extremely healthy. I keep running outside to see what has grown new today...lol

It’s always fantastic when a tree arrives healthy and ready to grow, and we’re glad it was packed carefully to ensure that.

Since you’re already enjoying watching its progress so closely (we can totally imagine those quick trips outside!), here’s a little tip to help your new maple settle in smoothly: make sure to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, especially in these first few months, to encourage strong root development. Frequently Asked Questions

Does autumn blaze maple have helicopters?

  • Autumn Blaze Maple can produce helicopters (samaras), but not consistently every year. This hybrid maple isn't sterile like some varieties, so seed production varies based on tree stress and growing conditions. Keep your tree healthy with proper watering and care to minimize helicopter production when desired.

How far apart to plant autumn blaze maple trees?

  • Plant Autumn Blaze maples 30-40 feet apart to allow for their mature spread. These fast-growing trees develop into large shade trees with symmetrical, oval canopies that need adequate space. For best results, consider your landscape goals when spacing these award-winning maples available at naturehills.com.

How tall and wide does an Autumn Blaze® Maple Tree grow at maturity?

  • Autumn Blaze® Maple typically reaches 40-50 feet tall and 30-40 feet wide at maturity. This fast-growing hybrid develops a balanced, oval crown with evenly spaced ascending branches. Plan for adequate spacing when planting to accommodate its mature size.

What type of soil does the Autumn Blaze® Maple prefer?

  • Autumn Blaze® Maple is adaptable to many soil types, making it an excellent choice for various growing conditions. This hardy tree tolerates different soil compositions well. For best results, ensure good drainage and keep the tree stress-free to minimize seed production.

Are Autumn Blaze® Maple Trees deer resistant?

  • Autumn Blaze® Maples are not considered deer resistant and may be browsed by deer, especially when young. Their fast growth rate helps them recover from minor deer damage better than slower-growing trees. Consider deer deterrents in high-pressure areas when shopping at naturehills.com.
