Boulevard® Chevalier™ Clematis

Love flowers? First introduced at the world-famous Chelsea Flower Show, the Boulevard® Chevalier™ Clematis (Clematis 'Evipo040') is a cool-toned winner! The huge, cool-toned blooms smother this ornamental vine from summer through fall!

It is a compact, free-flowering climber that dazzles from early summer to fall with its extravagant blue-violet blooms, ruffled red-violet bars, and a showy boss of lemon-yellow stamen in the center. On a single plant, you'll see single, semi-double flowers, and even fully double!

Eight showy, star-shaped, ruffled sepals deliver a beautiful color play! If grown in a bit more shade, the blooms grow deeper purple.

Clematis Care & Maintenance

Be prepared to answer questions about your fabulous Boulevard® Chevalier™ Clematis. Please be patient with it during the first season, you'll be enthralled by its lush, bushy habit once the roots are well-established.

• Sun and Shade Balance: Loves full sun on foliage, but prefers shaded roots. Hot growing zones will find their Clematis perform better in afternoon shade/partial shade locations.
• Moist, Well-Drained Soil: Clematis prefers moist, well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter. If planting in containers, use high-quality potting mix and mulch around the base to keep roots cool. Keep evenly watered, especially in containers. Avoid soggy conditions.
• Mulched Beds: Top-dress with 3-4 inches of mulch to keep the roots cool.
• Pruning Group 3: Blooms on new growth, so Chevalier™ needs a simple trimming down to knee height once a year in early spring.
• Fertilizer: Apply a balanced fertilizer in the spring.
• Support: Provide a sturdy climbing structure for these vines. Use a trellis, arbor, obelisk, or wire structure.
