Tough, hardy, and widely adaptable rarely go hand in hand with airy, fine-textured, and beautiful, but allow us to introduce you to the Pink Autumn Sage (Salvia greggii)! This tough perennial native is all that and more!

Fragrant top to bottom, the fine-textured, small oval leaves of this perennial Sage have a minty, herbal aroma and feature incredible versatility, adaptability, and drought tolerance! Evergreen in warmer climates, these are fantastic upright-growing sun garden additions!

From spring until frost, you'll enjoy bright magenta to hot pink, almost red flowers, that are just as aromatic as the foliage! Attracting bees, butterflies, and Hummingbirds that will not be able to resist the allure of these vivid flowers that keep popping all summer until autumn!

Tolerant of sandy or rocky soils, these plants are natives throughout the southwestern US and Mexico, Meadow Sages tolerate the hot, dry climates and look good doing it! Also known as Garden Sage or Perennial Saliva, this Pink plant grows throughout USDA planting zones 6 to 9, these native Salvias grow 2-3 feet tall and wide when in bloom!

Planting and Application:

Inject some fantastic bright colors and long-lasting blooms into your arid landscape and sun gardens with this Perennial Sage! Drought and deer-resistant, you can plant them about anywhere without any worry.

Tall enough for the back-of-the-border accents and season-long color, use it among your Cottage and Herb gardens, sun-baked Perennial plantings, Pollinator gardens, and Rock gardens for a long-lasting presence! As easy to grow in the pampered garden, these low-maintenance perennials do just as well in mass plantings!

Lovely enough to add fine texture to your Cottage gardens and even container gardening on hot, sunny patios and balconies, these are great informal beauties. A natural addition to Mediterranean-themed gardens, plant with Rosemary and sculpted, slender evergreens for a unique look.

Plant as a buffer between your home and the road in the infamous hell-strip where Sages seem to thrive despite salt, sand, sun, and urban conditions. Perfect for city and courtyard environments, there's little this hardy plant won't thrive in with other sun-loving perennials.

  • Bright Magenta-Pink Blooms on Dark Stems
  • Spring Until Frost Flowers!
  • Fine Textured Minty Aromatic Foliage & Upright Clumps
  • Evergreen in Warm Frost-Free Growing Zones
  • Gorgeous Container Specimens, Borders & Edging & Taller Accents

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Easy to grow, these tough herbaceous perennials are highly drought tolerant once established. Plant in the full sun, the gleaming pink flowers are defiant in the sun, humidity, and heat. Growing 2-3' tall and wide, these grow upright and will need protection from strong wind.

While hardy in USDA zones 6 through 9 in clay, sand loamy earth, and any well-drained soil works. Growing equally well in moderately fertile soils and with average moisture found in the home garden setting, Sage will only do poorly in soggy, wet ground. Apply a three-inch thick layer over the root system to support your plants.

Water regularly during that first year while a new plant is established, afterward these are able to hold their own, but for best results and the most blooms, water during times of need, especially when planted in a container or planter.

Deadhead to keep the flowers returning throughout the entire growing season, and prune these perennials back in winter to give your plant a clean, finished look if you are in the warmer growing zones where Sages can be evergreen. Otherwise, there's little else in the way of maintenance Sages require.

  • Humidity & Heat Tolerant - Full Sun Perennials
  • Easy Care In Well-Drained Soils
  • Drought Resistant Once Established
  • Deadhead For Return Blooms & Prune Early Spring
  • Incredibly Adaptable & Deer Resistant

For a beautiful plant that has it all, you'll be thrilled you decided to purchase this fantastic Pink Autumn Perennial Salvia at NatureHills.com today! Order now before this unique selection is gone!

Fragrant or not?? Need deer proof plants!

Your beginning details describes Autumn Sage as “fragrant from top to bottom” then the lower description says fragrant “no”. Which is it? Rating is based on appearance and the fact that my neighbor gave me two plants and she always steers me right.

Hi Harry,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts and keen observations about the Autumn Sage! We truly appreciate customers like you who pay close attention to details—that helps us improve our descriptions for everyone’s benefit.

To clarify, Autumn Sage is generally fragrant in its foliage and blooms, lending a lovely scent that appeals differently depending on the variety and growing conditions. Sometimes readers find mixed information because the plant features fragrant leaves “from top to bottom,” but some flower clusters or newer growth might have less noticeable fragrance. We apologize for any confusion caused by the wording.

Regarding your interest in deer-proof plants, you’re on the right track—Autumn Sage is a great choice since deer tend to avoid it due to its smell and texture. If you'd like, we can recommend some additional deer-resistant options perfectly complementary to Autumn Sage for your garden setting.
