Excellent material in great shape

Excellent material in great shape, when planted took right off and is flowering now with strong growth up trellis

A climbing rose that takes off and starts flowering in the same season is a great sign of a healthy root system getting established. Sounds like it has found its spot on the trellis. Thanks for sharing the update, and enjoy those blooms!

Strong yellow ; Strong climber.

This is a vigorous rose and a strong non-fading yellow. It arrived in exceptional condition and seems to be doing well in our PA Delaware Valley (amended) clay soil! The flowers have that tea rose form, which my garden clients requested. As a professional garden designer for 28 years, I usually avoid mail-order plants; but Nature Hill has earned my trust with roses.

Coming from someone with 28 years of professional design experience who typically steers clear of mail-order, that means a great deal to us. Royal Gold is a reliable performer in that regard. the non-fading yellow and classic tea rose form are exactly why it stays in our catalog year after year. Glad it settled in well despite the clay, and we hope your clients enjoy it for many seasons to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

What hardiness zones is Royal Gold Climbing Rose suitable for?

  • Royal Gold Climbing Rose thrives in USDA hardiness zones 6 through 9. This heat and sun tolerant climber performs exceptionally well in these zones, reaching 10-12 feet tall and 4-5 feet wide. Plant in full sun for best blooming performance.

How wide does Royal Gold Climbing Rose spread?

  • Royal Gold Climbing Rose reaches 4-5 feet in width when mature. This vigorous climber grows 10-12 feet tall and thrives in zones 6-9. Plan for adequate spacing when training on arbors or fences, available at naturehills.com.

When should I plant Royal Gold Climbing Rose?

  • Plant Royal Gold Climbing Rose in early spring after the last frost or in fall 6-8 weeks before hard freeze. This vigorous climber thrives in zones 6-9 and needs full sun with afternoon shade in hot climates. Choose a location with strong support since it reaches 10-12 feet tall.

How often should I water a newly planted Royal Gold Climbing Rose?

  • Water newly planted Royal Gold roses deeply 2-3 times per week for the first month. Since this vigorous climber reaches 10-12 feet and blooms all summer in zones 6-9, consistent moisture helps establish strong root systems. Check soil moisture 2 inches down and adjust watering based on rainfall and temperature.

How much sunlight does Royal Gold Climbing Rose need?

  • Royal Gold Climbing Rose performs best in full sun but appreciates some afternoon shade in hot climates. This heat-tolerant climber thrives in zones 6-9 and will reward you with continuous golden blooms all summer. Plant in a sunny location with morning sun exposure for optimal flowering when you shop at Nature Hills.

Do I need to prune Royal Gold Climbing Rose?

  • Climbing roses benefit from annual pruning to maintain shape and encourage blooming. For Royal Gold, prune in late winter or early spring before new growth starts. Remove dead, damaged, or weak canes, and trim back lateral branches to 2-3 buds to promote those long cutting stems.

What color are the flowers?

  • Royal Gold Climbing Rose produces brilliant bright yellow flowers with fully double petals. These golden blooms appear continuously all summer long on strong stems perfect for cutting. Plant in full sun for the most vibrant color and abundant flowering.
