Both linden trees came in excellent condition as described. Good value and excellent service

Greenspire Linden is such a solid choice, and it's good to hear both trees arrived in good shape. They'll reward a little patience as they get established and then really take off. Thanks for the kind words, Nancy, and enjoy watching them grow.

We shall see if it survives

We shall see if it survives. Arrived as healthy 4-5 ft tree but the roots were more bound than any other potted tree that I have planted before. I spent 40 minutes doing the untangle the best that I could.

Arrived in good shape

Greenspire Linden is a great tree to get established, and hearing it arrived in good shape is exactly the start it needs. Give it consistent water through the first season and it should reward you with that strong, upright form this selection is known for. Thanks for planting with us, Myleen.

Despite our weather…

Our tree is doing great despite the strange weather that we have had since its arrival. Lots of beautiful leaves…it’s very strong and thriving.

Greenspire Linden is a tough tree, and it sounds like yours wasted no time proving it. That strong early growth you are seeing is a great sign that the roots are establishing well. As it matures, you can expect a nicely upright canopy that fills in a bit more each season. Thanks for the update, Karen!

Impressed

Getting bare-root plants through the mail always makes me a little nervous and this five-foot Greenspire Linden is the largest specimen Ive ever ordered. Upon receipt, I was impressed with the care taken; both the roots and limbs were carefully trimmed in the right places. Being the middle of summer, I soaked the roots and temporarily planted it in a spare mound of rich soil I keep in the shade. I kept the soil moist and in a couple of weeks it was covered with tufts of healthy green leaves. Wow just that easy! I waited for a cold front and rain on the way to transplant permanently. Cant wait for this to grow and make tea from the leaves and flowers. My wife is from Europe where they have many Lindens and have long used the tea for its relaxing medicinal properties. Thanks and nice job Nature Hills!

Dear RJC,

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful experience with your Greenspire® Linden tree! We completely understand that ordering bare-root plants, especially one as substantial as your five-foot Linden, can feel a bit nerve-wracking. We’re delighted to hear that the care we put into preparing and shipping it was evident and that your thoughtful handling led to such healthy growth so quickly.

Your method of soaking the roots and temporarily planting it in a shaded, moist, rich soil environment was perfect—this kind of attentive care makes a significant difference for bare-root transplants, notably during the hotter summer months. Waiting for a cold front and rain before transplanting will help it establish deeply over time, another great call!

It’s especially lovely to hear about your connection to this tree through your wife’s heritage and the plan to enjoy tea made from the leaves and blossoms. Greenspire Lindens really are a wonderful choice with those beautiful aromatic flowers.

If in the future you ever have questions about care routines or creative uses for your Linden, feel free to reach out anytime—we’re always happy to assist and support your lush yard!

Dear Rjc,

Thank you so much for sharing your detailed experience with your Greenspire® Linden Tree! We understand that ordering bare-root plants, especially larger specimens, can feel a bit nerve-wracking, so we’re thrilled to hear that the careful trimming and packaging from our team helped put your mind at ease. Your thoughtful attentiveness—soaking the roots, keeping the soil moist while it rested, and timing the permanent transplant—truly made all the difference for your Linden’s healthy start.

It’s wonderful to hear how quickly your tree sprouted lush green leaves, and we love that you’re looking forward to enjoying Linden tea as a meaningful connection to your wife’s European heritage. As you watch your tree grow, a good tip is to mulch around the base to help retain moisture and regulate soil temperature through seasons—something especially helpful as your tree establishes during warmer months. Also, periodic deep watering will encourage strong root development.

Great for Shade

My Neighbor has this tree in front of his house. It has a beautiful dark green color and symetical shape. There are alot of branches which means alot of leaves... Great shade tree. Everytime I pass under the tree, it's always cooler. The truck is very straight and its root doesn't damage the sidewalk. I am planning plant one in front of my house too...

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the mature size of the Greenspire Linden Tree?

  • Greenspire Linden typically reaches 50-60 feet tall with a 25-30 foot spread at maturity. This pyramidal tree grows at a moderate rate and maintains its refined, formal shape naturally. Plan for adequate space when planting, as it makes an excellent long-term shade tree for larger landscapes.

What planting zones or hardiness levels is the Greenspire Linden suitable for?

  • Greenspire Linden thrives in USDA hardiness zones 3-7, making it suitable for most northern and temperate climates. This adaptable tree handles urban conditions, wind, and varying moisture levels exceptionally well. Shop at Nature Hills for this award-winning specimen tree.

Is the Greenspire Linden drought-tolerant, and how often should young trees be watered?

  • Greenspire Linden is adaptable to both wet and dry conditions once established. Young trees need regular watering their first 2-3 years to develop deep roots. Water deeply once weekly during dry spells, ensuring soil drains well between waterings.

When and how should I prune a Greenspire Linden Tree?

  • Prune Greenspire Linden in late winter while dormant to maintain its naturally strong pyramidal shape. This tree requires minimal pruning due to its uniform branching structure. Focus on removing dead, damaged, or crossing branches rather than heavy shaping.

What common pests affect Greenspire Linden Trees, like aphids or Japanese beetles?

  • Greenspire Linden trees can attract aphids and Japanese beetles, though they're generally resilient. Aphids may cause honeydew buildup, while Japanese beetles feed on the heart-shaped leaves in summer. Monitor regularly and treat early infestations with horticultural oil or beneficial insects for best results.

What diseases, such as powdery mildew, impact Greenspire Lindens, and how to prevent them?

  • Greenspire Lindens are generally disease-resistant but can occasionally develop powdery mildew in humid conditions with poor air circulation. Their urban tolerance and adaptability help them resist most common tree diseases. Ensure proper spacing and avoid overhead watering to maintain good airflow around the canopy.

Is wrapping or protection needed for young Greenspire Lindens in cold winters?

  • Young Greenspire Lindens benefit from trunk wrapping in harsh winter areas to prevent sunscald and frost cracking. This urban-tolerant tree is quite hardy once established, but newly planted specimens need protection their first 1-2 winters. Use tree wrap or guards from late fall through early spring.
