Sunny Boarder Flower False Sunflower Tuscan Gold

"What in the world are you doing?" she asked as she watched him trying to close the suitcase down over the huge sunflowers he had picked that morning.

"I want to take these home with us. I think that they're more yellow here than back home. Besides, you loved them so much and I liked the way you smiled when we walked by them every morning."

"You're sweet," she grinned at him, "but I have us covered."

False Sunflower Tuscan Gold (Heliopsis helianthoides 'Inhelsodor' PP 29,819) is going to make your perennial beds and borders explode with color this year! This breeding breakthrough takes all of the saturated color in the 9 foot tall sunflowers you see in pictures of the Italian countryside and gives it to you in in a plant that only grow 2-3 feet tall. Perfect for borders, beds and even as the "thriller" in your mixed containers.

The flowers are more daisy-like than sunflowers, but the rich golden color is unmistakable. You can cut them and cut them and there seems to be a never-ending supply of them for your vases. You don't have to deadhead them, though, if you're not inclined to.

They are outstanding garden performers and will give you a huge shot of color wherever you put them!

  • Tons of golden yellow flowers
  • Long blooming
  • Borders, beds and containers

Tuscan Sun False Sunflower

Magically popped up in abundance after cutting down dead trees at the edge of our rural property. The soil is poor, and rocky, but well drained. I would love to get them started in different areas of my property. Suggestions?

Hi Joy,

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful experience with the Tuscan Sun False Sunflower! It’s truly gratifying to hear how resilient and abundant they have become, especially in challenging soil conditions like poor, rocky, well-drained spots—that really speaks to their hardiness.

To help you get started transferring or extending them to other areas, consider transplanting young shoots in early spring with some added organic matter, such as compost or aged mulch, to enrich the soil and boost their chances of thriving. Ensuring those new spots also have good drainage is key. Additionally, starting them from seed indoors can be a great way to get a head-start before moving them outdoors. Our online resources and care guides for False SunflowersDetails about light preferences and water needs are posted on our site and might be helpful as you plan your expansions.
