Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

- Age Indicators: Container size primarily indicates plant age and maturity rather than liquid volume equivalents
Growing Conditions
- Plant size can vary based on variety and growing conditions
- Container size helps indicate plant maturity and establishment level
- Larger containers generally mean more established root systems and faster landscape establishment
Seasonal Availability
- Bare root plants are available seasonally when dormant

Growing Zones 5-9
Get ready for a garden party with the Celebration Blanket Flower (Gaillardia x grandiflora 'Celebration')! This is a non-fussy, long-lived, powerhouse of a flower! This is a little plant with a great big impact! These cheerful perennials will bring loads of joy to your garden or to a friend as a bright gift plant for any occasion!
Gaillardia are well-known for pumping out lots of flowers, but Celebration takes that to a new level! From spring or early summer all the way through the first frost these little guys are covered in red-orange (more red than orange) 1-2 inch wide daisy-like flowers. The hot color saturates the petals and extends to the fuzzy-looking centers of each bloom! Not fading in the heat of summer, you will enjoy the same rich color in June as you do in August or September as flower after flower appears over the rich green mounds of neat and tidy foliage!
Very adaptable and hardy throughout USDA growing zones 5 - 9, Blanket Flowers thrive in hot, sunny sites and are widely used in xeriscaping and fire-wise landscapes! Deer and rabbits tend to leave these perennials very much alone, but your local pollinators and butterflies will go gaga for these garden party favors! Snip a few for your vases indoors without the worry of depriving your bees - Gaillardia will just pump out more!
Planting and Application:
Celebration grows into a smaller, neat and tidy mound, and if you plant several together in groupings you will get the true 'blanket' effect. This is a fantastic groundcover and edging plant for those bright sunny spots in your garden. Try on a hard-to-mow hillside for color and erosion control, or along sun-drenched pathways, driveways, and that harsh 'hell strip' between the sidewalk and street
Try them in beds and borders for sure, but they also are fantastic in a large planter or terra cotta pot around your patios, balconies, or front porch container gardens! They make great cut flowers, too! Rock gardens, cottage borders, and updated wildflower or pollinator gardens all welcome the bright color of Celebration!
- Radiant Red-Orange Blooms & Fuzzy Darker Centers
- Lush Green Foliage in Tidy Compact Mounds
- Pollinator Heaven!
- Non-Stop Blooms All Growing Season
- Xeric, Waterwise & Fire-Wise Landscaping
- Containers, Edging, Specimens, Space-Saving Beds & Borders
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Gaillardia grows vigorously to a 14-16 inch tall and wide herbaceous perennial mound. Thriving in average to low fertility and almost any type of well-drained soil, they do their very best in full sun. On top of all this, they are nice on the water bill, requiring much less water than other plants that flower as much as Celebration does!
- Absolutely Loves the Sun
- Low to Average Soil Moisture
- Well-Drained Average Soil
- Deadhead to Encourage Rebloom & Prune Back Late Fall if Needed
- Easy-Care, Adaptable, Drought-Tolerant, Deer & Rabbit Resistant
This is truly a cause for celebration! Easy, unfussy, Waterwise, and pretty flowers almost all year (especially in warm winter areas). What's not to love about Celebration Blanket Flower? Order yours today at NatureHills.com!
