Okay plant. Arrived in good shape. Seems to be doing okay but kind of early to make a good judgement.

Fair enough, Vincent. Roses really do need a full season before you can get a true read on how they're settling in. The Chrysler Imperial is worth the patience though, it's one of the classic hybrid teas for deep red blooms and fragrance. Check back in once it puts on some growth.

I bought 2 roses

I bought 2 roses. One for a friend and one for me. This rose was a old memory for my friend. Her dad had 4 of these and she remembers how much they had a strong fragrance. She has searched several nurseries in Texas trying to find this rose. Mister Lincoln was my favorite. I gave her the Lincoln and she expressed how much she loved the Lincoln but couldn't find the Chrysler Imperial. Sooo as a friend I searched and search and FINALLY found 2 that wasn't $100 each. She cried and hugged my neck. Made me happy I could provide a memory for her.

What a story. Tracking down a rose tied to someone's childhood memories of her father's garden, and finding it at a fair price, is no small thing. Chrysler Imperial and Mister Lincoln are two of the all-time classic hybrid teas for good reason, and that deep fragrance your friend remembers holds up. Wishing you both many seasons of blooms from your gardens.

Chrysler Imperial Hybrid Tea

I received your plant. With my due care and watering plant properly I could not survive the plant. My money is wasted.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience with the Chrysler Imperial Hybrid Tea. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that the plant didn’t survive despite your proper care and attention—that’s understandably frustrating when you’ve invested time and effort.

Sometimes even with watering and care, young plants can struggle due to transplant shock, environmental factors like temperature or sunlight, or soil drainage. To help prevent loss in the future, we recommend ensuring the plant is in well-drained soil and gradually introducing it to absolute sunlight if it’s sensitive. We’re truly glad that what started as an unplanned purchase has blossomed into such a beloved companion. Your description of its aroma being the very best truly captures the special charm of this classic rose.

Since you enjoy cutting your rose blooms, you might find it helpful to cut stems early in the morning or late in the evening when they’re fully hydrated—this often helps the flowers last longer indoors. Frequently Asked Questions

Can Chrysler Imperial Hybrid Tea Rose grow in zone 5 with clay soil?

  • Chrysler Imperial is a hardy hybrid tea rose that can handle zone 5 conditions. Clay soil needs amendment with compost for proper drainage, as roses prefer well-draining soil. Plant in spring after last frost and mulch well for winter protection.

How far apart should I plant multiple Chrysler Imperial Hybrid Tea Roses?

  • Plant Chrysler Imperial roses five or more feet apart for a sleek, modern look. Closer spacing creates a fuller hedge effect, while wider spacing showcases each plant's individual beauty. Choose your spacing based on your desired garden style when you shop at Nature Hills.

What type of soil does Chrysler Imperial Hybrid Tea Rose prefer, and how do I amend clay soil?

  • Chrysler Imperial thrives in well-draining, fertile soil with a pH between 6.0-7.0. For clay soil, work in 2-3 inches of compost or aged manure to improve drainage and aeration. Plant in raised beds if drainage remains poor after amending.

How often should I water a newly planted Chrysler Imperial Hybrid Tea Rose?

  • Water newly planted Chrysler Imperial roses deeply twice weekly for the first month. This heat-tolerant variety needs consistent moisture to establish strong root systems that will support those heavy 5-inch blooms. Check soil moisture 2 inches down and water when dry.

When should I fertilize Chrysler Imperial Hybrid Tea Rose, and what type?

  • Fertilize your Chrysler Imperial in early spring with a balanced rose fertilizer, then monthly through summer. This heavy-blooming hybrid tea needs consistent feeding to support those spectacular 5-inch blooms through two flushes. Shop quality rose fertilizers at Nature Hills to keep your prize-winner performing at its best.

Is Chrysler Imperial Hybrid Tea Rose fragrant, and what does the scent smell like?

  • Yes, Chrysler Imperial has a wonderful fragrance described as an old-fashioned damask rose scent with citrus notes. The strong fragrance attracts butterflies and bees throughout the blooming season. Plant near walkways or patios where you can fully enjoy the heavenly scent.

How is Chrysler Imperial Hybrid Tea Rose shipped, bare root or potted?

  • Chrysler Imperial Hybrid Tea Roses are typically shipped as potted plants during the growing season. This allows for easier establishment and better root development compared to bare root shipping. Plant your potted rose in spring after the last frost for best results.
