Pink Flowers and Gold Foliage

The Bleeding Heart 'Gold Heart', Dicentra spectabilis 'Gold Heart' (CPBR#0974), is a fast-growing perennial with rose pink, heart-shaped flowers.

The blooms look wonderful against its bright gold foliage. Bleeding Heart's should be planted in partial sun to partial shade but will also do well in full shade.

It is somewhat heat tolerant and needs moist soil. Do not let the soil dry out.

Dicentra will bloom from late spring to early summer and is a major attractor to butterflies.

Bleeding Hearts are perfect as border plants or in a shade garden.

Gold Hearts is a plant for fertile but well-drained soils. It prefers consistently moist, humus-rich soils similar to a great woodland soil full of organic matter and richly fertile.

The simplest way to mimic this is to add several shovels of compost around the base of the plant every spring.

  • Long bloom period
