Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Growing Zones 3-6
Do you love gardening and growing your own food but feel like you've tried it all? Sure strawberries and apples are great but they're also so regular and have been grown before. If you're looking for new and exciting fruit to grow then you have to check out the Sugar Mountain® Blue Sweetberry Honeysuckle (Lonicera caerulea 'Dolce Vita' PP26,617)!
In spring, this deciduous shrub is covered with lightly fragrant white honeysuckle flowers. While many honeysuckle berries aren't very appetizing, the Blue Sweetberry's fruit is absolutely delectable! Like elongated blueberries, you'll want a whole crate to munch on come summer harvest! Create luscious jam spooned over ice cream, syrup drizzled over yogurt and oatmeal, or even compote spread atop pancakes and waffles!
Tasting like a cross between raspberries and blueberries, but easier to grow! Sweetberry Honeysuckles were specially selected from the Czech Republic for their delicious fruit and extreme hardiness. This amazing bush can withstand temperatures dipping to as cold as -50°F! Now that's a resilient plant!
Planting and Application:
While this Sweetberry Honeysuckle is self-fruitful, you can increase the harvest size immensely by planting another kind of Honeysuckle nearby for cross-pollination. You'll be happy you did come harvest and you've got enough to snack on, freeze for winter, and a few leftovers so curious neighbors can have a taste! Not to mention enough to share with hungry songbirds looking for shelter and food!
Plant multiple plants in rows or groupings for privacy, shelterbelts, property division! These highly ornamental flowering plants look fantastic anywhere in the landscape. Backdrop greenery for kitchen and herb gardens or vegetable beds, and unique accents in mixed-shrub borders too!
