In acid soils, the interior of each bloom will be a lovely blue shade. If you have alkaline soils, a delightful pink will color your blossoms. Hardy in USDA growing zones 5-9, Edgy® Hearts grows to a mature height of 2-4 feet tall and a similar spread.

Bigleaf Hydrangeas do best in full sun in cooler climates but appreciate morning sun and afternoon shade in hotter growing zones. There are no significant disease or insect issues with Edgy® Hearts, so plant them with an easy mind in any kind of well-drained soil that remains consistently moist all growing season and especially through the hot summer months. Mulch the site well to further hold in moisture and keep the roots cool. Be sure to only prune Bigleaf Hydrangea in the early spring when new growth begins to emerge, snipping off anything that died back over the winter. Otherwise, prune for increased branching immediately after they've bloomed, or else you will accidentally cut off next year's flowers.
