Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements

Growing Zones
Your head will be spinning! The beautiful multicolored heart-shaped leaves of the Fancy Leaf Carousel Caladium (Caladium bicolor 'Carousel') features white leaves heavily speckled and spotched in pink in the center and green along the edges! Then further accented by carmine reddish-pink veins!
Carousel Caladium is a vision of color that will catch your eye and sparkle in the shade garden! The large leaves flutter in the breeze and pack a ton of color into a 14-16 tall mound that only spreads 8-12 inches wide! Even though Caladium are Arum Lily family members that occasionally produce spathe-like flowers, it's the heart-shaped variegated foliage that is what gets all the attention!
Fancy Leaf Caladiums are topical bulb plants that thrive in heat and humidity. A perennial in zones 9 - 11, they are also great annual accents outdoors, and houseplants or seasonal interest in cooler zones. This wintery beauty loves heat and humidity, and can be grown in any region as an indoor plant and can be grown outside once the nighttime temperatures are in the high 60s and above.
Planting and Application:
Try these in baskets, planters and mixed plantings as well, Carousel Caladium plays well with other shade garden perennials and annuals in your landscape! Perfect for use beneath tree canopies, and as a skirt around your large shrubs, these love the shade and protection of larger plants!
Carousel Fancy Leaf Caladium, also known as an Angel Wing Caladium, provides summer to fall color and fits anywhere due to the compact growth! That means it will look great in bright indirect windows in pots as houseplants, or growing in pots and planters as an amazing 'thriller' in mixed containers, urns, and hanging baskets!
Classic porch and sunroom plants, Carousels bright hues and ornamental foliage are exactly what your landscape has been looking for to enliven the gloom! Shady decks and balconies, in garden beds around covered porch, and even in window boxes around the gazebo.

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Indoors, Caladium loves bright sunlight but not direct. Outdoors Caladium prefers shade with a bit of morning sun and shade the rest of the day. Or plant in moist locations in dappled sunlight. Too much light will cause the vibrant colors to fade and the leaf edges to brown. During their growing season, these plants like their rich well-draining soil to be kept evenly moist but never soggy. A 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch helps hold in moisture and keep the roots cool. Dig the tuberous corms in the fall and store them in a frost-free location for the winter.
Caladium being tropical plants, should be planted in the spring with their 'eyes' facing up and about 2 inches below the soil surface. Space them about 5-10 inches apart depending on how dense you wish your end result to look. Water well and add bulb fertilizer, keeping the soil evenly moist.
Trim away leaves as they become tattered or yellowed and once all foliage has died back in the fall, dig up your corms and store them as you would Canna and Elephant Ears.
