Expert delivery: healthy plant

Healthy on arrival is exactly what we aim for, Linda. Blackhawk Big Bluestem is a great choice, and once it settles in you should see that deep burgundy fall color really develop over the seasons. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Very Expensive & Poor quality!

When it was delivered it was totally dead looking! And there has beenNo signs of life yet🥲
Hopefully it will do a rebirth for next year, because I didn’t purchase the warranty!

Poor quality and crappy customer service

I ordered these. When they came it had like 5 blades. I don’t even know if it’s going to make it. I paid $149 for 4 of them. You can’t get ahold of anyone at nature hills through email, calls, or texts to get it taken care of. And 2 of my plants I ordered with these did not even come. And like I said can’t get in touch with anyone to get my money back.

Beautiful Blackhawk Grass

Love these. 2nd year now and they took off. The colors are green, purplish. I like the way they sway on a windy day. This grass won't disappoint you. I wish I could display my pictures. I have a few of these dark beauties.

Frequently Asked Questions

How tall does Blackhawks Big Bluestem grow at maturity?

Does Blackhawks Big Bluestem grow well in my zone (e.g., zone 3 or 9)?

  • Blackhawks Big Bluestem thrives in USDA zones 4-9, making it widely adaptable across most of the United States. This native warm-season grass tolerates both heat and cold extremes well. Check your specific zone and shop at Nature Hills for best results in your area.

Is Blackhawks Big Bluestem drought-tolerant once established?

  • Yes, Blackhawks Big Bluestem is drought-tolerant once established. This warm-season native grass tolerates heat and humidity well, making it ideal for low-maintenance landscapes. Water regularly the first year, then it can handle dry periods naturally.

How do I care for Blackhawks Big Bluestem in winter—cut back or leave standing?
