Where to Plant

Sunlight: Full sun is ideal, meaning six or more hours of direct sun daily. While it can handle a touch of afternoon shade, be aware that less sun means fewer flowers and makes the foliage more prone to developing powdery mildew.
Soil: Aim for a rich, consistently moist, but well-draining soil. If you have heavy clay, blend in plenty of well-aged compost to lighten the structure. For sandy soil that dries out quickly, compost will help it hold the necessary moisture and nutrients.

Watering Requirements

During its first season, keep the soil consistently moist as the plant gets established, which usually means about an inch of water per week if rain is scarce. Once established, Rockin Raspberry Bee Balm is moderately drought-tolerant, but for the best show, ensure consistent watering, especially during dry spells and bloom time. Allowing the soil to dry out repeatedly will stress the plant, leading to smaller flowers and unsightly leaf drop.

Preferring full sun for the most flowers and strongest stems, but light shade is tolerated in hotter growing zones. Bee Balm loves moderately rich, moist, and well-drained soils, Rockin Raspberry also handles chalk, clay, loam, sand, and rocky soil in a range of pH! They only dislike soggy, wet ground. Provide good air circulation and these bold perennials will provide years of showy blooms each summer!

Deadhead to clean the mounds and prune back the mounds to the ground once they've died back in the fall. Divide clumps to maintain their vigor and keep clumps orderly and in bounds.
