Second shipment is beautiful! Great customer service.

Our first shipment wasn’t great, but we contacted customer service and they sent a gorgeous replacement!

Glad the team was able to turn things around for you, Claire. Denim 'n Lace is such a reliable bloomer once it gets established, so it is worth getting a healthy start. Thanks for giving us the chance to make it right, and enjoy that sage this season.

Very happy on arrival ! Packaged perfectly

Russian Sage is one of those plants that ships well when it's packed right, and it sounds like this one arrived in good shape. Thanks for letting us know, Jarrod. Get it settled in with good drainage and plenty of sun and it will reward you with those long lavender spikes all summer long.

Just as promised

Just as promised .....in great shape

Denim 'n Lace is a tough plant to ship well given how wispy the stems can be, so it's good to hear it arrived in solid shape. It should establish quickly and reward you with those long lavender spikes all summer. Thanks for the note, Brent. The Nature Hills Team

Happy Customer!

My Denim 'n Lace Russian Sage arrived in good condition although it was already "bloomed out" but that's just part of the growth cycle. I cut it back slightly, planted it and it's already pushing up new bright green growth. Hope to get to enjoy it this fall before first frost.

That new growth pushing up after a cutback is a great sign, Jennifer. Russian Sage is tough and fast to rebound once it settles into the ground. If you are in a zone where frost comes early, the plant should still put on a decent show before it goes dormant, and next year it will come back even fuller. Thanks for sharing the update.

Plant was well packaged

Plant was well packaged. Thought it would be a bit more full being a little older; it's planted and seems to be doing ok.

Glad it arrived well protected and is off to a good start in the ground. Thanks for planting it and sharing the update, Neil. -The Nature Hills team

My plants arrived in great shape and are looking healthy after being planted for a couple weeks now

My plants arrived in great shape and are looking healthy after being planted for a couple weeks now.

Russian Sage is one of those plants that tends to settle in quickly once it finds its footing, and it sounds like yours are off to a strong start. Blue Jean Baby in particular puts on a nice show once it hits its stride, with that soft silvery foliage and the lavender-blue flower spikes. Thanks for the update, Paula, and enjoy watching it fill in over the season.

Russian Sage

The Russian Sage plant I received of good size and very healthy. It seems to like its new home and is growing as I hoped.

Russian Sage tends to settle in quickly when it arrives in good shape, so it's great to hear yours is already taking off. As it matures it will really start to branch out and fill in, and a light cutback in early spring each year keeps it blooming at its best. Thanks for sharing the update, Sue.

What is the mature height and width of Blue Jean Baby Russian Sage?

  • Blue Jean Baby Russian Sage reaches 18-24 inches tall and wide at maturity. This compact cultivar stays much shorter than traditional Russian sage varieties while maintaining the same drought tolerance in zones 4-9. Perfect sizing for containers and front borders available at naturehills.com.

Does Blue Jean Baby Russian Sage grow well in my planting zone (e.g., zone 4 or zone 9)?

  • Blue Jean Baby Russian Sage thrives in USDA zones 4-9, making it adaptable to a wide range of climates. This hardy perennial handles both cold winters and hot, humid summers with ease. Plant in full sun with well-drained soil for best results.

How much sun does Blue Jean Baby Russian Sage need?

  • Blue Jean Baby Russian Sage requires full sun to thrive and produce its best blooms. This sun-loving perennial handles heat, humidity, and harsh dry conditions with ease in zones 4-9. Plant it in your sunniest spots for optimal flowering and sturdy stem growth.

Is Blue Jean Baby Russian Sage drought-tolerant once established?

Shop at Nature Hills for this xeric landscaping champion.

How do I prune or cut back Blue Jean Baby Russian Sage?

  • Cut all stems down to a few inches in late winter or early spring. This allows fresh new growth to form and maintains the plant's compact shape. Make clean cuts just above soil level before new shoots emerge.

When does Blue Jean Baby Russian Sage bloom, and what color are the flowers?

  • Blue Jean Baby Russian Sage produces lavender-blue flowers in smoky spires from mid-summer through fall. The vivid blooms rise above fragrant gray-green foliage and make excellent cut flowers. Plant in full sun with well-drained soil for best flowering performance.

Is Blue Jean Baby Russian Sage deer and rabbit resistant?

  • Blue Jean Baby Russian Sage is highly deer and rabbit resistant due to its aromatic foliage and bitter taste. The fragrant gray-green leaves naturally deter browsing animals, making it an excellent choice for gardens in areas with wildlife pressure. Plant it in full sun zones 4-9 for best natural pest resistance.

How is Blue Jean Baby Russian Sage shipped—bare root, potted, or something else?

  • Blue Jean Baby Russian Sage ships as a live plant in a container, not bare root. This perennial establishes quickly in zones 4-9 when planted in well-draining soil. Plant in full sun and water regularly until established for best results.
