The Willoway Variegata 2 Dogwood (Cornus kousa 'Willoway Variegata 2' PPAF) will have a special spot in your yard and heart! Unlike most Kousa Dogwood varieties, it has bi-color variegated leaves which add to its striking appearance! With four seasons of exciting and lux leaves, the Willoway Variegata 2 will be a welcomed addition to your yard.

Every spring your Willoway Variegata 2 Dogwood becomes smothered in creamy white blossoms and turns heads for weeks! As they open, the creamy bracts reveal greenish little flowers in the center, acting like alluring landing pads to attract bees and butterflies that help pollinate your other flowering plants throughout your yard!

After the blooms fade, you will find small reddish berries which are a favorite of a number of songbirds! Break out the binoculars and your birding list and get ready to enter the names of the species that visit your yard for a snack!

It will start with the beautiful spring bloom followed by the variegated foliage of summer, vanilla white on a green background. Then in the fall, the leaves of this deciduous tree will turn into a spectacular maroon. In addition, this variety has uniquely tiered branches that give it a stunning appearance all winter! Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 5 to 8, there is little to worry about from this adaptable ornamental Dogwood variety!

Planting and Application:

Your Willoway Variegata 2 Dogwood is a small variety that will enhance the beauty of your yard, even if you don't have excessive space! Keeping to a mature height and width of around 18-20 feet, the brilliant coloration of this ornamental will gleefully anchor a foundation planting or garden bed!

The drifts of white flowers, the curious red fruit, and the phenomenal fall show will give you something to look at year-round! This fantastic specimen and focal point tree will light up your spring curb appeal in leaps and bounds! The Willoway Kousa Dogwood is a narrower, more upright variety, that you can use as an anchor or focal point tree to add romance to your landscape your yard.

Keep the lower limbs and branching for incredibly showy privacy rows and hedges that birds and wildlife flock to. We're sure the neighbors will be too distracted to realize you're blocking their messy yard and prying eyes! Whether en masse or mixed among other flowering shrubs and trees, you'll have plenty to look at on your side of the property line as well! Try mixing and matching with other Kousa Dogwoods for a spectacular show!

These are ideal for naturalized groupings and in informal clusters that light up the gloomy understory to create the wilderness garden of your dreams! Bring screening and peaceful beauty to your outdoor garden rooms, Moon Gardens, and seating areas!

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Like most varieties, Willoway Variegata 2 Dogwood likes full sun but will do well in partial shade, especially afternoon shade for trees grown in the Southern climates. Give Dogwood Trees a home in rich, slightly acidic, well-drained soil, and it will thank you with spectacular foliage from spring to autumn! Provide average but regular moisture, but not wet. They love having their root systems covered with a 3-4 inch thick layer of mulch to keep the root system evenly moist and cooler.

Prune Dogwood to shape when dormant, and remove water growth or suckers after flowering. Decide what you want to keep first, then remove crossed branches and branches heading into the interior of the canopy to open it up for sunlight penetration and air circulation. Another great thing about this Kousa hybrid is that it shows better resistance to disease better than other Flowering Dogwoods!

  • Full Sun & Afternoon Shade
  • Moderate Moisture Needs
  • Enriched, Well-Drained Acidic Soil
  • Prune When Dormant
  • Resistant & Adaptable Tree or Shrub Form

If you want your neighbors to wander over and ask about those unique trees that you have added to your yard, then add a few Willoway Variegata 2 Dogwood to your Nature Hills cart today. You will be glad that you did as you sit on your lawn chair enjoying the view all year long.
