Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Brighten your garden - with a twist! The Twist of Lime™ Abelia (Abelia x grandiflora 'Hopley's') puts a fresh spin on this color duo and will dress your garden in cool, soft color all year! When young, the variegated foliage emerges yellow with green centers, maturing to creamy ivory and green. It is the perfect backdrop for light pink and white summertime flowers. Creating a refreshing burst of brightness to any landscape! By summer, the glossy foliage matures ivory and gray-green variegated foliage.
Also known as Miss Lemon Abelia, this low-maintenance and colorful, big, bright shrub stands out from the crowd with cream and green leaves and pastel pink-scented trumpet-shaped flowers. It looks great on its own or massed in your beds and borders.
The flowers bloom from summer through fall and the leaves stay semi-to-fully evergreen all year. Twist of Lime™ is the perfect foil for the long-lasting fragrant trumpet-shaped flowers that pollinators and hummingbirds adore! The dusty pink sepals last long after the petals are gone. This showy shrub shows off with variegated pastel hues and looks good in any situation!
Landscape Application:
Mix it with chartreuse-colored or other variegated plants for a very modern garden, or contrast against dark foliage shrubs and perennials! Twist of Lime™ looks fantastic with Roses, Ornamental Grass, and other pink flowering plants!
Variegated Abelia shine in the foundation border, in Cottage Gardens, and are tough enough for Rock Gardens, while showing off among mixed shrub borders and standing out gloriously when planted en masse, in rows, or in groupings throughout any sunny location in the landscape.
You don't need to go big to allow this ornamental variegated shrub to shine, as Twist of Limes™ smaller size means even balcony and container gardeners can enjoy the fragrant blooms! Sunny porches and patios, urns on either side of your front entry, or adding height to a mixed planter around seating areas.
- Variegated Cream & Green Glossy Leaves
- Compact Evergreen/Semi-Evergreen Shrub
- Fragrant White Tubular Flowers With Pink Overtones
- Burgundy Fall Foliage
- Pollinator-Friendly Blooms Spring Through Fall
- Great in Large Containers, Low Hedges, Backdrops & Flowering Edging
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Plant this broadleaf evergreen Abelia in full sun and some partial shade. About any type of well-drained soil and moderate moisture throughout the first year, but once established, Abelia can be fairly drought tolerant.
Abelia grows naturally beautiful but is amenable to pruning in the late winter if you so desire. Apply a three-inch layer of mulch over the root system, but pull it back six inches from the stems, and reapply as needed. Deer-resistant and pest-free, these are incredibly hardy and easy-to-grow plants.
- Full Sun & Partial Shade
- Moderate to Low Moisture Needs
- Any Well-Drained Soil
- Prune Late Winter
