Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Today's growers are busy developing more compact fruit varieties that will fit nicely in the smaller lot sizes of modern homes. Sweet Sensation Columnar Peach (Prunus persica Sweet Sensation') is a perfect example. Why not grow your own succulent peaches, taking full advantage of your land and the sunshine above? With a narrow, columnar variety like Sweet Sensation, it's easy!

This columnar tree won't get very wide. It's naturally right-sized, but produces large, red-blushed, yellow fruits. Even gardeners on the smallest lots can find a spot to grow healthy and delicious fruit.

You'll be amazed at this fruit! Sweet Sensation peaches are highly colored, with bright red skin and juicy, yellow flesh. Nearly fuzz-free, the sweet taste will appeal to even the pickiest eaters. And the freestone pit falls away cleanly to make preparation a snap!

The spring flower display is incredible. Anyone would be thrilled to grow a small tree with these lovely pink blooms in spring. Sweet Sensation is truly an ornamental edible plant that works beautifully in several seasons.

Even the fruit makes a highly ornamental display. The bright red skin of a Sweet Sensation peach is pretty as a picture. You'll love the way your tree looks at harvest time!

The flavor of these classic, yellow freestone peaches has a perfect acid and sugar balance. These sophisticated peaches will satisfy foodies, but are sweet and juicy enough to keep the kids happy, too.

They'll make fantastic pies, cobblers and crisps. Try them sliced and grilled for a wonderful side dish. Slice and freeze for a taste of summer during wintertime. Dehydrate them, or add to water to infuse with the incredible flavor.

You only need one tree to grow your own peaches. Sweet Sensation is a self-fruitful variety. However, we'll let you know that you'll get a much larger harvest if you plant two trees. Consider adding a partner columnar Peach or Nectarine, if you'd like.

Nature Hills knows that gardens are getting smaller. Sweet Sensation a compact habit and narrow width, this is the perfect peach tree for almost any landscape.

How to Use Sweet Sensation Columnar Peach Tree in the Landscape

You'll want to feature the outstanding spring flower display and pretty peaches of this edible ornamental plant. Yes, this is a fruiting tree, but it can and should also be considered a small accent tree.

The growth habit brings a wonderfully tight, upright formal character. Use it along your patio, or repeated across the back of a sunny border. Try a pair flanking either side of your front door as a unique, eye-catching vertical design element. Or, use as a fun, functional and gorgeous focal point in a special Meditation Garden.

No matter how you choose to use it, you can maintain Sweet Sensation at any height you'd like. For a really easy harvest, you might decide to keep the tree pruned below 8 feet tall. Prune in summer to control size.

Columnar varieties are particularly suited to high density planting. Create a long hedgerow by planting the other columnar selections of Flavor Gold Nectarine and white-fleshed Blushing Pearl Peach.

Space the trees 5 feet apart on center. You'll measure from the center of one to the center of the next.

Hedgerows work well for several reasons. First, you get to enjoy fresh peaches and nectarines for over a 3-month period. Second, their small footprint takes up as little as 15 feet. Third, you'll appreciate an edible screen to separate a portion of your yard or block out unwanted views.

Make your yard work harder for you, your family and friends with these columnar fruit trees from Nature Hills!

#ProPlantTips for Care

For best results, select a location that receives full sun with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight. Morning sun is best, as this quickly dries off the leaves from any overnight dew.

Sweet Sensation is adapted to a wide range of soil types, as long as they drain well after a rainfall. If you have heavy soil that retains water, you'll need to improve the drainage. Create a raised planting bed, or bring in additional soil in a heaped mound 12 to 18 inches high and 3 feet wide. Plant in that mound, which will elevate the crown of the root.

Spread a 3 inch layer of mulch out 3 feet beyond the edge of the canopy. Mulching helps to maintain moisture and keep the surface roots cool. It also allows you to extend the period between watering.

The goal is to keep soils evenly moist, but not wet. Provide a moderate amount of supplemental water regularly. Use the Finger Test to check. Poke your finger into the soil up to the second knuckle. If it feels moist, there is no need to add water. If it's getting dry, time for a good soaking.

Sweet Sensation Peach is very dependable, productive and self pollinating. While still being tested, this variety has shown promise as a low chill selection. It has been setting well in areas with as little as 400 hours of winter chill.

These cutting-edge columnar fruit trees work so well in a modern landscape. Grow the amazing taste of Sweet Sensation Peaches in your own garden, no matter the size.
