Sunset Gold Coleonema (Coleonema pulchellum 'Sunset Gold') also known as the Golden Breath of Heaven, is a fine-textured and lacy evergreen with shocking chartreuse foliage. The not only brilliantly colored but also highly aromatic needle-like leaves grow low and spread wide. Bees and butterflies love the attractive, tiny pink blooms that fill out this low-growing shrub all winter into the spring! The aromatic foliage can be described as fresh and clean!
The greenish-yellow needles fill out this mounding plant, and the flowers and fragrant needles are great fillers in floral arrangements and equally so in containers as fillers and spillers. Adding motion and color to the landscape as the wind gently makes the fine foliage sway! You'll love the year-round color and the burst of winter-to-spring pink blooms just when other plants are not showing much color.
Sunset Gold Coleonema resists deer and drought, acidic soil, and even sandy sites with ease throughout USDA growing zones 8 to 11! Not bothered by salt spray on the coast or your driveway in winter, the sunset pink and gold hues of this versatile shrub will amaze you with its toughness! Heat and humidity tolerant and very easy to care for in the warm climate landscape!
Planting and Application:
Fantastic as groundcover to add vivid color year-round as edging or filler between larger shrubs or among a low mixed shrub border! Tolerant of salt spray, coastal gardens, and that tricky hell-strip location between road and sidewalk or along a driveway where road salt may be present. Sunset Gold Coleonema can be used on steep slopes, cascading over retaining wall tops, or spilling down a hillside to help combat erosion. They will pour down the sides like a gently flowing stream of soft pink and green and help to stabilize the soil and stop erosion with aplomb.
Add a breath of fresh air, the bold color adds contrast to your evergreen foundation plantings, cottage gardens, and look fantastic rambling through a Rock Garden! Container gardens gain vivid spillers and large planters light up a sunny porch, patio and seating areas! Pair with the even shorter and spreading cousin Pink Breath of Heaven for a varied and brightly colored effect in the landscape!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Plant your ornamental flowering shrub in a full sun location for the most blooms! Provide a very well-drained soil location that is slightly acidic and moderately moist. These shrubs handle sandy, coastal conditions. Shrubs appreciate and top-dressed with a 3-4 inch layer of mulch. Prune immediately after flowering for the best results.
