Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Important Notes
Container Volume Specifications
- Trade Gallon Standard: Our containers follow industry-standard "trade gallon" specifications established by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI Z60.1) for nursery stock
- Volume Variations: Actual soil volume may vary due to plant root systems and growing medium settlement
- Age Indicators: Container size primarily indicates plant age and maturity rather than liquid volume equivalents
Growing Conditions
- Plant size can vary based on variety and growing conditions
- Container size helps indicate plant maturity and establishment level
- Larger containers generally mean more established root systems and faster landscape establishment
Seasonal Availability
- Bare root plants are available seasonally when dormant
- Container plants are available throughout the growing season
- Specific varieties may have limited availability in certain sizes

Growing Zones
Celebrate spring with a romantic tea garden style perennial bulb blend that is feminine and pastel with the Spring Garden Bulb Blend (Tulipa 'Angelique', Muscari 'Album', Muscari armeniacum) and get ready to unwind!
Featuring the heavily-petalled peony-like Angelique Tulip with soft pink, double blooms that perfume the spring garden! Mixed with the sweet, petite and ultra-fragrant Album white Grape Hyacinth, and the darling bubbly-blue, fragrant blooms of Muscari armeniacum Grape Hyacinth!
This blend of soft and soothing hues brings in the butterflies and softens the last of winter's hard edges that may remain in the landscape! The Spring Garden mixed bulbs are perennial spring ephemerals that return year after year throughout USDA planting zones 3 to 8, but can be used as seasonal container garden additions, or annual accents in all growing zones! Bring this cheerful color indoors by forcing bulbs inside this winter!
Planting and Application:
The Spring Garden Blend includes the low-growing Grape Hyacinths that naturalize freely among the taller double pink Tulips, each sharing the garden as they mingle among your other spring ephemeral bulbs, larger perennials and even happily dancing among your Roses and flowering Shrubs!
Large or small, this blend of spring bulbs brings softness and warmth to your Cottage garden and Rock garden, as a front of the garden edging in Perennial borders, provides vital nectar and pollen in your spring Pollinator gardens, and adds pretty color that ushers you forward along your pathways and driveway gardens!
Even container gardens gain perennial or annual color all spring season! Pot up in a window box, or half-whiskey barrel, or go fancy in urns and modern-styled planters! It's up to you if you want to dress these lovelies up or keep them informal and free!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
These hardy perennial flowering bulbs must be planted in the fall, and all have the same growing condition needs and generally the same planting needs too! Plant perennial bulbs about 3x their length deep. They actually do well having the top portion of their rhizome exposed, but you can cover these in a light layer of arborist mulch for heat and chill protection.
Plant this bulb variety mixture in a location with full sun access in well-drained soil so the bulbs do not rot. Provide moderate, yet regular water throughout the establishment period and during hot summers as long as the bulbs foliage is green.
Deadhead after the flowers fade, sometimes encouraging a rebloom, but leave the foliage to make food for the bulbs. Then once the leaves turn yellow, trim them back to the ground.
- Full Sun Perennial Bulb Plants
- Cold & Heat Hardy
- Fast Growing in Fertile Well-Drained Soil
- Appreciates Mulched Beds & Regular Moisture
- Deadhead After Flowers Fade
