Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age

Growing Zones 7-10
We don't want to bring back bad memories of high school English essays, but we want to point out that you've encountered the Snow On The Mountain Camellia (Camellia sasanqua 'Mine-No-Yuki' or Camellia sasanqua 'White Doves') before - even if you don't remember it!
Where, you ask?
Fair question!
In chapter 11 of that great American classic "To Kill a Mockingbird", Scout's brother Jem reaches the end of his rope with the old woman up the street who continually taunts them because their father, Atticus, is defending a black man on trial. In a fit of rage he takes his sister's baton, runs through the old ladies' yard and he "did not begin to calm down until he had cut the tops off every Camellia bush Mrs. Dubose owned."
Those Camellias she owned?
Snow On The Mountain!
These gorgeous, super-frilly, pure-white flowers bloom on lush, glossy broad-leaf evergreen plants that grow up to a mature height of 25 feet. The flowers are awesome cut flowers and make wonderful holiday decorations when they are floated in a bowl of water.
They are beloved Southern garden broad-leaf evergreen shrubs and have definitely stood the test of time! Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 7-10 but can be used as a container plant on patios in zones 6 and lower as seasonal accents that Northern growers can bring indoors or grow in greenhouses for the winter.
Planting and Application:
The evergreen foliage provides year-round privacy or as a flowering hedge to draw the eye along the garden! Create outdoor garden rooms and property definition that screens out the nosy neighbors or hides eyesores with beautiful flouncy blossoms!
The gleaming white blossoms shine in Moon Gardens, and light up a privacy screen all fall and winter when they bloom! The blooms are perfect in pollinator gardens and as cut flowers that a bride would be envious of! Use Snow On The Mountain as a foundation hedge where it won't block your windows, but you'll still appreciate the view! These year-round evergreen shrubs are the perfect specimen, and anchors to soften your hardscapes or as backdrops to your other garden beds!
Use as a specimen plant in containers or in the ground! Adding Snow On The Mountain to your landscape, large or small, will make up for its size with its bright white blossoms! Urban courtyards and balcony gardens both can benefit from these flouncy blooming ornamentals! Anywhere it is planted, you'll have happy pollinators!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
These flowering shrubs are easy-care in dappled shade and acid well-drained soil. Camellias are adapted to many soil types but prefer slightly acidic soil with a pH of 5 to 6.5. Choose a location that drains well. Amend the soil with a few handfuls of acidic pine needles to maintain the acidity.
Fertilize twice a year with Dr. Earth Acid Lovers Premium and Organic Fertilizer in the late winter and early summer. For container growing choose a potting mix recommended for Azaleas, Camellias, and Rhododendrons. Because it is so adapted to container growing, Camellias can be brought indoors for the winter in growing zones 6 and under, then brought outside as a seasonal patio accent!
Shallow-rooted plants, Camellias appreciate mulched beds to protect their roots from heat and drying out. Spread a 3 to 4-inch layer of mulch to keep the roots cool and the surface moisture consistent. Apply the mulch all the way out to 3 feet away from the plant's trunk.
Camellias should be pruned to maintain size, shape, and air circulation inside the canopy, but it is best done right after the flower. Prune out interior dead limbs and twiggy growth after flowering in early spring, or prune to shape at any time during the year.
- Grow in Part Shade or Afternoon Shade
- Easy to Grow in Acidic, Well-Drained Soils
- Displays Drought Tolerance Once Established
- Prune After Flowering
- Low Maintenance & Widely Adapted
