Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

At Nature Hills we handle, package and ship the products you order with the utmost care to ensure healthy delivery. Shipping and handling charges are calculated based on the tables below. Stunning true blue, the Sapphire Beauty Dutch Iris (Iris hollandica 'Sapphire Beauty') is an elegant variety with orchid-like blooms, each splashed with yellow. Lightly fragrant and super showy, these stand on strong, slender stems and fringed in sword-like green leaves.

These eye-catching blue blooms pop up in the late spring to early summer, bringing in curious onlookers and early-emerging pollinators. Even after the flowers fade, the strappy sword-like foliage acts as vertical texture in the garden bed or container garden!

In-ground hardy perennials throughout USDA planting zones 6 to 8, Dutch Iris naturalize and form polite colonies throughout the sunny landscape. Growers in all hardiness zones can employ these sapphire blue blooms as annual accents and seasonal color displays - both in the ground or in containers!

Planting and Application:

The radiant and unexpected color, rare in the flower world as it is, excites the senses with the bold saturated, yet silky petals. Each with a contrasting bright golden yellow accent! Plant where you want everyone to take notice! Mailbox gardens, front berms, along pathways, and your front steps, the vivid spring color helps shake off the dull winter blues!

Cottage gardens, Rock Gardens, mixed perennial beds, and full sun to partly shaded borders are perfect places to display these spring jewels! A must-have for cut flower gardens, pollinator gardens, or in groupings and drifts as seasonal landscape features. Even your container gardens and mixed planters gain a showy thriller with vertical texture!

  • Bright True Sapphire Blue Blooms With Yellow Accents
  • Vertical Strappy Grass-Like Leaves
  • Lightly Fragrant & Great For Bouquets
  • Pollinators & Container Garden-Friendly
  • Gorgeous Specimens & Focal Points, Groupings, Mass Plantings & Rows

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Dutch Iris should be planted in the fall. Choose a sunny, well-drained location that won't get soggy, but remains moderately moist. Top-dress with a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch chips to help retain moisture and protect the bulbs (unlike other Irises that grow from rhizomes and like to be partially exposed.).

Every few years divide the bulb clumps and clean out any older, non-productive bulbs to maintain vigor. Deadhead the flowers after they fade, but keep the leaves to make food for the bulb. Prune away the foliage after it yellows to the ground.

  • Full Sun & Partial Shade
  • Fast Growing in Fertile Well-Drained Soil
  • Appreciates Mulched Beds & Regular Moisture
  • Deadhead & Prune After Foliage Yellows
  • Deer-Resistant

Gorgeous jewel-tone beauty, the Sapphire Beauty Dutch Iris will amaze you this year! Hurry and order this unique garden gem today. NatureHills.com will hold your order and ship quality bulbs to your doorstep at the proper fall planting time based on your plant hardiness zone.
