The Blue Hill Salvia (Salvia x sylvestris 'Blauhugel') has glowing purple stems loaded with true blue flowers that bloom from June to October. With its gray-green aromatic foliage, it makes an attractive accent all summer long and reblooming until frost!
This flowering perennial is nearly impossible to resist and even the butterflies, Hummingbirds, and beneficial pollinators can't get enough of it! You'll not get enough for your indoor vase arrangements! Luckily, the more you snip, the more blooms return until frost! Even during the rare times when these perennials won't be in flower, the crinkly green leaves are herbal-scented and form tidy mounds that look great on their own!
Wonderfully hardy and easy to grow, these cold-hardy plants grow throughout USDA planting zones 3 to 8 and shine in the full sun without shrinking, browning, or withering! These plants retain their native hardiness and are low-water usage plants!
Planting and Application:
Blue Hill is an excellent summer container thriller or an unearthly blue perennial specimen, these are even more impressive when you plant it in mass plantings or long rows shining throughout large beds. That includes every visitor to your Pollinator Garden or in seating areas in sun garden containers, or Cottage border display!
You cannot fail with this hardy, container gardening-sized Salvia, and it will provide you with excellent cut flowers too! The true blue flowers make for quite the show stopper no matter where it is planted. This plant will have no problem standing out amongst the crowd!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Perennial Salvia like Blue Hill should be planted in full sun in a moist well-drained area for the best growth possible! Despite being low-water usage plants, these perennials do best when young if you provide regular moisture until they are established. After, Salvia are low-water usage plants and just need supplemental moisture during extended heat and drought. A 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch around the roots keeps soil moisture more consistent and insulates the roots. Salvia is a woody herbaceous perennial that looks best if the mounds of greenery are cut back in the late winter or early spring. Keep those bold blooms popping until fall with regular deadheading.
- Thrives in Sun, Heat & Humidity
- Drought-Resistant Once Established
- Any Well-Drained Soil Type
- Prune Back Late Winter or Early Spring
- Deadhead To Encourage New Blooms Spring til Fall
- Deer Resistant, Easy To Grow Perennials
