Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.
This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age

Growing Zones 7-9
Looking for something distinctly different in a Crape Myrtle? Look no further than First Editions® Ruffled Red Magic™ Crape Myrtle Shrub PP#27,303 (Lagerstroemia 'PIILAG-VII')! This new Crape Myrtle has all of the great traits you love about your other Crape Myrtles but with a few HUGE new features.
This compact plant blooms all summer with crepe paper-like glowing red flowers that stand out in stark contrast to the lustrous dark green foliage. The long-lasting blooms attract Hummingbirds and pollinators, but with deadheading, you'll enjoy a second flush of flowers!
And the foliage? When the flower show stops in late summer the leaves take over by turning a deep orange-red in the fall! The plant is a strong upright grower, but compact with dense branching.
It makes a great summer screen or foundation planting. It is also resistant to leaf spot and powdery mildew, which is quite a breeding accomplishment in red Crapes. Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 6 to 9, Red Magic™ grows 10-12 feet in height but just 8-10 feet wide.
Planting and Application:
If you've never grown a Crape Myrtle, this is the one to start with. Simple to grow and a garden showstopper, you will be forever happy that you planted one (or several!) of these beauties! Rock Gardens, pollinator borders, and mixed shrub hedges gain long-lasting blossoms and color!
Create a glamorous spectacle with a single Red Magic™ planted on the corner of your home to soften the angles and anchor your foundation planting. Add one as a focal point to your Cottage Garden, or a row as a brilliant backdrop to a Rose Garden!
The branching is dense enough to provide screening year-round and privacy during the growing season! Create outdoor garden rooms around your seating areas and private sanctuaries for tea, yoga, or entertaining with these faster-growing flowering ornamentals!
Plant them with other bright flowers or shrubs in deep green. Let Ruffled Red draw the eye to some great piece of garden art or hide an architectural flaw. They are great on their own and in groups. They even succeed in large containers on your porch!
Several planted together to make an informal naturally shaped hedge or keep it trimmed for a formally sheared foundation planting - easily shaped however you need your Crape to grow best!
- Striking Ruffled Red Flowers!
- Long-Lasting Blooms & Reblooms With Deadheading
- Pollinator & Hummingbird Magnet
- Four-Season Interest!
- Specimens & Focal Points, Backdrops & Hedges, & Container Accents!
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Crape Myrtles need full sun for the most blooms and strongest growth. Any well-drained location with regular moisture is ideal for your new shrubs, but once established, these flowering shrubs handle some drought. But for best results, provide supplemental moisture during extended periods of hot dry weather. Topdress the soil with a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch to hold in moisture and enrich the soil.
Like others in the Magic series of Crape Myrtles, Ruffled Red reblooms in late summer if the first flush of flowers is deadheaded. Prune your shrubs in the early spring before growth starts since they bloom on new wood.
- Full Sun
- Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate to Low Moisture
- Easy to Grow & Low-Maintenance
- Prune Early Spring
- Very Deer & Disease Resistant
Very red and very ruffled! Don't wait, order a First Editions® Ruffled Red Magic™ Crape Myrtle today from Nature Hills Nursery!
Single Stem, Multi Stem, Shrub Form, Oh My!
Before you buy, make sure you know what you're getting! Single-stem, multi-stem and shrub forms are different so read a bit about which we're currently offering below.
Single Stem:
These are plants that have one stem coming from the ground. Plants can also be considered single stem when lower branches are removed to raise the height of the branching. Sometimes, you will hear a single stem referred to as Tree Form.
Multi Stem:
These are plants with 2 or more stems planted together in the ground in close proximity to form a clump. There are times multi-stems are formed by a tree that branches at the soil line with more than one main stem.
Shrub Form:
These are bushy plants with many stems and branchings close to the ground. They are referred to as shrubs or bushes and are often shorter than their tree forms.
