Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Proven Winners® Westcountry™ Masterpiece Lupine

The Proven Winners® Westcountry™ Masterpiece Lupine (Lupinus polyphyllus 'Masterpiece') is a stunning perennial with tall, spiky blooms in deep plummy-purple and fiery orange. This showstopper adds vibrant vertical interest to the garden, with fragrant, Pea-like flowers that attract pollinators from late spring to early summer.

Growing up to 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide, this hybrid Lupine forms a dense mound of deeply divided, palm-like foliage that remains lush throughout the season. As summer progresses, its eye-catching blooms give way to decorative seed pods, adding extended visual appeal. In autumn, the foliage may take on golden hues before dormancy.

Westcountry™ Masterpiece Lupine is a cold-hardy perennial, thriving in USDA zones 4-8. As a nitrogen-fixing plant, it enriches the soil while dazzling with color. Lupines are often associated with imagination and positivity, making them a symbolic addition to any garden. Preferring cooler summers, this variety is well-suited to northern climates and performs best in full sun with well-draining, slightly acidic soil.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Westcountry™ Masterpiece Lupine rebloom?
While it primarily blooms in late spring to early summer, deadheading spent flowers can encourage sporadic reblooming.

Is this Lupine deer-resistant?
Yes, deer and rabbits tend to avoid it due to its alkaloid content, making it a great choice for gardens with browsing wildlife.

Does it need staking?
Not usually! Its sturdy flower spikes typically stand tall on their own, but in very windy areas, light support may be beneficial.
