Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes

Panicum are warm-season grasses native to North American prairies, and Niagara Falls retains its native hardiness! Switch Grass even handles occasional flooding, salt spray, and alkaline soil! Loving full sun for the strongest growth, any well-drained soil type works when planting Ornamental Grass. Needing moderate moisture at first, Panicum are drought tolerant once established.
Leave the seedheads and foliage intact throughout the winter for considerable winter interest and in the early spring, trim back all the foliage and clean out the mounds. Divide the clumps every 3-5 years to keep them growing vigorously.
