Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Get your fairy tale garden going with the lovely Pink Princess Escallonia (Escallonia x exoniensis 'Fradesii')! This diva features showy clusters of distinctive crimson flower buds that pop open into pink trumpet-shaped flowers with red overtones at the ends of the branches! Flowering from early spring to mid-fall, this sweetly scented, compact broadleaved evergreen shrub doesn't stop there!

You'll definitely appreciate the length of the bloom season, and so will your pollinators! Also known as Redclaws, these shrubs have pretty toothy-edged green leaves providing contrast between the delicate bloom clusters when seen together as a whole. The finely textured leaves but you'll be impressed with the lush, densely full shrub!

Hardy throughout the USDA planting zones 7 to 9, Pink Princess isn't some high-maintenance royal pain, rather they are easy-to-grow flowering ornamentals! Coastal gardeners will enjoy Pink Princess which can handle tough salt spray!

Planting and Application:

This a charming and super colorful addition to the mixed shrub border. Use it as a hedge, or as a perfectly pretty screen to slay an ugly view. Or use this as a foundation plant for a modern interpretation. The 5-6 foot tall and wide form won't block windows!

Plant several near a seating area, so you can hold private court in style. If you prefer a rustic look, let it grow into its natural shape. Or, for a more contemporary style, try your hand at shearing it into a lovely wall that flowers and perfumes your space!

Birds seek shelter among Pink Princess Escallonia's upright branches and Butterflies love the long-lasting blooms. And you'll be happily ever after with this finely textured selection. Utilize the spring-to-fall flowers and year-round greenery as a dramatic backdrop or pretty property division.

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Flowering and growing best in full sun, Pink Princess has an easy-going nature, and once it's established in rich, well-drained soil, these shrubs won't need much more than regular water to keep them growing happy! Prune if needed in the early spring to remove dead or crossing branches, but wait to sheer or heavily prune after the flowers fade. You can also renewal prune by removing older, less vigorous stems every 3-5 years. Appreciating a 3-4 inch deep layer of arborist mulch, Escallonia do prefer their soil slightly on the acidic side.

  • Full Sun Native Evergreen
  • Any Well-Drained Soil
  • Tolerates Drought & Neglect
  • Prune in Early Spring
  • Very Hardy & Adaptable
