Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

The Double Blooming Lavender Freesia (Freesia x hybrida 'Lavender') has everything you love about Lavender Freesia and doubles it! Full ruffled and tightly packed layers of petals in that soft amethyst hue are multiplied in beauty by their peppery sweet scent and symmetrical form!

Featuring strong stems that hold the flowers aloft for bees and butterflies, Freesia grow from underground corms and create small fountains of sword-like green foliage. Flowering in the summer the numerous buds per stalk have a long-lasting flowering time!

Hardy corms in frost-free growing zones, Freesia can be used as seasonal garden and planter accents in cooler climates. Growing fast, these smaller perennial plants grow just 12 inches tall as leafy green clumps, and can reach 24 inches tall when in bloom, with a similar spread at maturity.

Landscape Application:

Florist quality blooms and easy care, the delightful Lavender Double Freesia will add subtle flower power and a peppery sweet perfume to your gardens, planters, and your home! Butterflies and Hummingbirds will appreciate you when you supply them with these nectar-rich blossoms!

Freesias buds appear in mid-spring and are consistently opening from one day to the next and are backed by lush clumps of blade-like green leaves. The strong stems hold themselves high from the plant and look elegant arranged in a bouquet where they perfume your home with their nose-tickling scent!

Because there are numerous buds per stalk that open consecutively from base to tip, they have a long-lasting presence anywhere. Lavender Freesia is year-round hardy throughout USDA growing zones 9 and 10, but are often used as annual accents, houseplants, gifts and container plants in all growing zones.

  • Double Layer Of Amethyst Blooms
  • Fountain-Like Long Sword-Like Greenery
  • Spicy Peppery Sweet Scent!
  • Great For Bouquets & Pollinator-Friendly
  • Edging, Groupings, Front Garden Border Accents & Containers

#ProPlantTips for Care:

When planted properly, Double Freesia blooms profusely and won't disappoint you! Freesia grows best in full sun and handles some afternoon shade in hotter climates. The corms multiply and will naturalize in USDA growing zones 9 and 10, and are easy to grow in sandy, loamy, average, moist well-drained soil. Plant Freesia corms about 2 inches deep, pointy end up. Provide moderate fertility and a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch over the soils surface.

Northern gardeners In USDA planting zones 1-8 use Freesia as annuals for seasonal container or garden accents, or bring them in for the winter as houseplants. You can also treat these corms as you would Canna and Dahlia, and lift your plants in the fall before a hard frost but after they've gone dormant. Deadhead after flowers fade but keep the leaves so they can make food for the bulb, then trim the leaves down when they turn yellow.

  • Full Sun Plants & Afternoon/Partial Shade
  • Enriched Well-Drained Soil & Moderate Moisture
  • Summer-Flowering Spring Planted Corms
  • Deadhead As Flowers Fade & Prune When Greenery Yellows
  • Perennial Corms Can Be Grown As Annual Accents Or Houseplants

Twice as much of what you love, the Lavender Double Blooming Freesia is a sure bet for summer color and lavender beauty! Order your very own quality dormant bulbs from Nature Hills Nursery today and we will ship to your door step at the proper planting time for your growing zone!
