Get show-off color on a well-behaved, compact plant, the KICKIN® Aster Carmine Red (Aster KICKIN® 'Carmine Red') will kick your fall garden scene into high gear! This is not your Grandma's aster, those beloved native garden staples for the fall garden. No, this is an improved KICKIN® variety and it stays small enough to edge your butterfly garden bed without any staking, fuss or muss.
Wow! That's what you'll say when you see the explosion of hot purply red flowers on this mounding, tidy perennial! Why plant Asters? Well, gardeners who plan for the cooler autumn season know why! Perfect last season color and very easy care, Asters are almost plant-it-and-forget-it plants!
Asters are also an important food resource for hungry bees and butterflies at the end of the season. Monarchs start their epic migration in the fall, and they are always on the hunt for new food sources. Because the Aster is a cultivar of the hardy native plant, butterflies are perfectly suited to take full advantage of the nectar available from late summer all the way through the fall season! Versatile and hardy throughout USDA zones 5 through 9, the improved KICKIN® line of plants includes the vibrant Lilac-Blue form too!
Planting and Application:
Pair this fall-blooming aster with other late-season blooms for an incredible fall display! Toss in some Rudbeckia and Coneflowers too, and of course - Other Asters! Any garden with an Aster or two in it becomes a pollinator garden! So bring these flying flowers to your cottage border along with improved color, or inject some spice into your cutting garden! No container or planter on your porch or patio should be without these vibrant and easy-to-care-for plants!
The tidy mounds, 2-3 feet tall and wide, are filled in lance-shaped leaves all season and become the perfect foil for other plants all growing season. Then in fall - the blooms that smother these plants leave the others in the dust! Abundant KICKIN® blooms in spicy-colored blooms stand out in the fall landscape just as other plants begin to wind down for the year! Layer these hot fall colors together as a spectacular backdrop for your football watch parties. You'll want to plant these luscious Asters in groups of 3, 5, or 7. They are most effective when massed into natural drifts at the edge of the bed.

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Super easy care when grown in moderate to moist soil, these herbaceous perennials prefer well-drained conditions and full sun. This Aster doesn't like to dry out in the summer heat. Pinching back the stem tips in late spring and early summer will produce denser growth and heavier blooming. This plant may be divided every few years in the spring.
- Full Sun Loving
- Adaptable Cold & Heat Hardy
- Moderate Moisture & Well-Drained Soils
- Pinch Back in Late Spring/Early Summer
- Deer Seldom Bother Them
But hurry, we will sell out of these quickly! Order your own spicy fall butterfly plants today with the hot new KICKIN® Aster Carmine Red from NatureHills.com today!
