This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

An alluring seductress in the shade garden, Seducer Hosta (Hosta 'Seducer') is a very large-sized Hosta with broad, dark-green leaves. The leaves are more than just a pretty dark-green picture, they're lined with bright yellow margins for a gorgeous two-toned feel. Because Seducer has large leaves … its coloration is very distinct!

As if that weren't enough to fall head over heels, there's a trace of a white line that develops between the two colors as the season progresses. It'll show up as long as the summer sun gives off its anticipated heat. Late summer through fall, the clump is topped by near-white flowers that rise on tall scapes and feed hungry hosts of bees and butterflies completely entranced by this beauty!

Fun and flirty Seducer is hardy throughout USDA growing zone 3 to 9 and is cold, heat, and humidity tolerant! Hosta are also fantastically urban condition resistant, easy to grow, and perfect for the newbie gardener! Seducer grows quickly just over two feet in height and spreads into fountain-like clumps 3 feet wide!

Planting and Application:

Seducer Hosta makes itself at home in shady, woodland settings and is an eye-catcher when planted en masse! The brilliance of the golden yellow and green coloration often works amazingly as a standout specimen plant and in groupings! Have a shady strip along an east or north-facing part of your home or garage?

Plant a colorful row of Seducer Hosta! Or a row in front of your dappled shade foundation plantings give your curb appeal a bright boost! Grow a circlet of green and white around a specimen plant or statement piece in your shade garden to make it stand out! Hosta works wonderfully under trees and large shrubs to hide the bare stems and branches where Hosta makes perfect groundcover, embracing the shade. They grow in shady spots where your grass will not! Plus, no worry about competing roots.

Contemporary, formal plantings and informal cottage gardens alike benefit from these colorful perennials. Borders look high-style with long rows of Hosta, and so will the edges along beds, driveways, and shady paths. Butterfly gardens and cottage gardens will get a traditional look with the addition of a few of these colorful perennials!

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Also known as Plantain Lily, this herbaceous perennial has an amazing assortment of colors in each leaf that intensifies in bright light, and while Hosta can be fairly sun tolerant in cooler growing zones, they should be given dappled shade, afternoon shade, or full shade in hotter climates. When watering, make sure to lift up the leaves and water the soil directly underneath. Its large leaves can sometimes act like a bit of an umbrella and keep the roots from getting water. Perennial Hostas grow best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. A generous layer of arborist mulch helps retain soil moisture as well as insulate the root system from heat and chill. Wait until the leaves have been exposed to frost and have turned brown before removing all leaf litter in late fall.

  • Filtered, Dappled Shade, Part Shade to Full Shade
  • Moisture Loving Plant
  • Enriched, Well-Drained Soil

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Hostas need full sun or shade?

Hosta does best in full sun in cooler climates but does appreciate afternoon protection from the worst of the summer sun, especially in the hottest of their growing zone range. In the hottest climates, Hosta like partial shade or dappled shade, and some varieties will do great in full shade.

Where do Hostas grow best?

Hosta plants love enriched, well-drained soil that is moderately yet consistently moist throughout the growing season. They appreciate mulched garden beds.

Do Hostas come back every year? Are Hostas a perennial plant?

With vigorous carefree growth, Hostas are herbaceous perennial plants that will return year after year with little maintenance.

What do you do with Hostas in the fall? What do you do with Hostas in the winter?
