Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Growing Zones 3-9
Grape Hyacinth (Muscari latifolium) are diminutive fragrant powerhouses that prove good things come in small packages! Scented clusters of bell-shaped flowers in pale blue-purple rise above densely bunched sprays of arching green foliage.
These scented little spring-flowering blooms are lovely in little bouquets and nosegays, and outdoors feed some of the earliest emerging pollinators! Force these little bulbs indoors for a winter treat that is sure to brighten the winter doldrums. Try using a special forcing vase or grow them in a cloche on the dining table or coffee table.
All just in compact 6 inches-tall clumps of adorable flowering bulbs! Each small bulb produces a single bloom. Hardy and low-maintenance throughout USDA growing zones 3 to 9 and shining in the full sun. These fast-growing little perennial bulbs are among the first to arrive on the scene!
Planting and Application:
Naturalizing and spreading, these lovelies create tidy bunches of spikey green foliage. Perfectly sized to tuck into your planters and patio pots, line your garden beds and with early spring, fragrant edging or popping up throughout your Rock gardens and Perennial beds. Also perfectly sized for indoor gardening and balconies!
Lovely spring edging and en masse bunching throughout the bed and border. Mingling throughout perennial and bulb gardens, even mixed shrub borders for early spring color and then appreciate the shade the larger plants provide when their leaves emerge. For vivid pops of spring color, create low-growing edging with the spikey clumps of greenery.

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Preferring full sun, Muscari handles part shade in warmer growing zones of 3-8. Grape Hyacinth prefers all types of soil as long as it's well-drained soil. Deadhead after bloom if desired. These tender perennials appreciate cover by later emerging garden plants and will die back in summer until next year. Add bulb fertilizer to each hole for best results.
For indoors, force in a bright yet indicted sun location for the strongest stems and foliage. Prune back the flowers after they fade, and leave the greenery to make food for the bulb. Then after the foliage yellows, you can prune it back to the ground. Store forced bulbs in a cool, dark location. When you buy bulbs from Nature Hills, you are buying proven landscape varieties. We provide bigger, premium bulbs for better, high-quality results.
