Growing Zones
That elegant life of the party — you know, the one that lights up a whole room — that's what you will enjoy when the Garden Party Lily (Lilium 'Garden Party') is included in your garden! Fragrant and tall, this lovely summer-flowering ornamental features tall slender stems with starry blossoms in creamy white with reddish-russet stripes and freckles!
Forming illustrious tall stems of multiple buds, Garden Party is bedecked in large flowers reaching 42-52 inches high! The strappy green leaves that line the stems form clumps that are space-saving 10-12 inches wide, making them very easy to tuck into established and small garden spaces!
Garden Party Lily is a perennial bulb, technically a scaled bulb, and each baby scale that forms around the main bulb can become new plants! Giving you groupings that very gradually expand in size over time! These spring-planted bulbs are cold-hardy throughout USDA planting zones 3 to 8.
Landscape Application:
Garden Party Oriental Lily is the perfect way to add height and interest to your summer garden beds and borders without worrying about your focal points and specimens taking over and overshadowing the rest of your garden!
The starry blooms oversee the landscape from above and play garden hostess to mixed Perennial gardens, Pollinator borders, and are must-haves for the proper English Cutting Garden and Cottage Garden! Even Moon Gardens can enjoy these white blossoms! Fill your vases with their fragrant blossoms as specimens and perfume the whole room!
Porch and patio container gardeners can also enjoy these tall perennials as thrillers in their large mixed planters and raised balcony gardens! Any sunny location is ideal for you to enjoy these classic summer bloomers!
- Large White 6-Petalled Flowers With Rusty-Red Stripe & Freckles
- Strap-Like Green Foliage & Tall Slender Stems
- Fragrant - Great For Pollinators & Bouquets
- Hardy Perennial Bulbs
- Garden Specimens, Tall Focal Points & Container Thrillers
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Lilium orientalis bulbs grow the biggest, the best, and the tallest in the full sun, preferring morning sun and requiring a touch of afternoon part shade in hotter climates. Allow at least 6 hours of direct sunlight a day for optimum results.
Plant Oriental Lily bulbs up to 12 inches deep in the ground, in well-drained but moist soil with average fertility. Not particular on soil type, any well-drained medium that has a good amount of humus and organic material added will help hold the moisture that these bulbs enjoy.
Water well while plants are young and consistently during the heat of summer to have the best blooms and the longest bloom time. Once established, they will only need supplemental watering throughout the summer's heat and in times of prolonged drought.
Apply a deep layer of mulch over the soil's surface to ensure moisture consistency and to also insulate the root system from both heat and cold.
If you live in cooler climates of zones 1-3, you can still enjoy these outstanding flowers! Simply treat Oriental Lilies as you would Dahlias or Canna Bulbs; dig them up in the fall and store them in a garage or shed for the winter. Gardeners in zones 9 and up, store in cool storage (like a refrigerator) to mimic a chill period.
Deadhead as soon as the flowers have faded, but keep your foliage until after frost to make food for the bulb, then cut back in autumn. Otherwise, these are a carefree and easy-to-grow species of Lily! Every 3-5 years, you can divide the bulb clumps and spread the joy throughout your landscape.
- Full Sun Is Best (Afternoon Shade In Hot Climates)
- Well-Drained Moderately Moist Soil
- Perennial Bulb - Plant In Spring 12-Inches Deep
- Deadhead After Flowers Fade & Prune Back After Frost
- May Need Staked In Windy Locations
Get ready for the Garden Party Lily to keep the summer going with its tall white and freckled blooms! Nature Hills ships quality, dormant bulbs to your door step at the proper planting time for your growing zone!
