An Azalea that looks like a Rose! The Evermore Orange Azalea (Rhododendron EVERMORE 'MAXXOHI-02') is so fully double that the flowers look just like glowing red-orange Roses covering the shrub every spring! A really unique look in Azaleas that will be a surefire conversation starter!
The deeply saturated, tangerine-orange flowers make it stand out and really catch the eye, they are such a different color for flowering shrubs! Such an unexpected hue in the early spring, these brilliant and bold blooms defy the season and burst out in full summery poolside exotic color! This is a versatile small shrub with year-round greenery in addition to the repeat blooms!
Evermore Orange Azaleas are bred to be disease resistant and hardy in zones 7-9. They are also insect resistant and handle the heat and humidity of these zones with grace. Growing into a neat and tidy 3-4 foot tall and wide ball of greenery, these dark green shrubs look lovely no matter where they are situated! This low-maintenance flowering shrub tolerates full sun, partial shade, and heat, as long as the soil is mulched and you are ready with a hose during extended drought.
Planting and Application:
Evermore makes a great broad-leaved evergreen foundation plant or back-of-the-border shrub where it blooms from spring to frost! They are fantastic partners to chartreuse colored plants and blue-needled evergreens. As a single accent plant and in groupings, the color effect is eye-popping!
Use these beauties under windows where the flowers can be seen from the inside as well as the outside. Plant several together to form a stunning low hedge along your fence or driveway. Pair them in a patio bed with yellow blooming Roses and red blooming Salvias for a punch of hot tropical color that can't be missed.
Plant it as a Thriller in your seasonal containers or around a sunny porch or patio. Evermore makes a wonderful facer plant along the length of your mixed borders and evergreen hedges to attract loads of butterflies and even hummingbirds! Why not trim your front walk in these eye-catching beauties? You'll easily start the conversation with guests, and stop traffic while you're at it!

#ProPlantTips For Care
If you live in a climate with very hot summers, give them some shade in the afternoon for the best results. Ideally, Rhododendrons and Azaleas love a cool, moist, slightly acidic garden soil that is high in organic matter. Use pine bark/pine straw mulch to add acidity and improve your soil over time. Provide a moderate amount of water on a regular basis. Keep containers watered by setting them on a drip irrigation system to keep it easy for yourself.
When planting Azaleas in the ground, it's better to plant higher, than too low. Mound up when planting by leaving a few inches of the root ball showing above the ground. Pull pine bark or pine straw mulch up to cover the root system. Plan to reapply a mulch layer each year.
Right after the spring bloom is past, give your plants a light trim to encourage new flowers and correct shape, as needed. Avoid any major summer or fall pruning, or you will remove next year's spring flowers. Weed your plantings regularly, as the shallow roots won't like the competition. Apply a good, organic, slow-release Acid Lovers fertilizer in early spring according to the product directions.
- Grows in Full Sun & Partial Shade
- Acidic Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate Moisture & Mulched Beds
- Prune Right After Flowering Only

The Evermore Orange Azaleas are bound to become favorites, especially in the South where they thrive with very little attention needed. If you aren't growing them already, you will be soon! Order yours today from Nature Hills!
Azalea and Rhododendron Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the best place to plant an Azalea bush?
Azaleas and Rhododendrons prefer partial shade (both dappled shade all day or morning sun with afternoon shade). Plant in a slightly acidic, consistently moist, enriched and well-drained soil location for best results. Their shallow roots dislike soggy soil but thrive with a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch over their surface.
How big does an Azalea bush get?
Evermore Orange Azaleas can reach around 3 - 4 feet in height and width in optimal conditions.
Are Azalea bushes low maintenance?
Azalea and Rhododendron shrubs are very easy to grow and low maintenance. Water during drought, prune only after flowering and fertilize with an acid-loving organic, slow-release flowering plant fertilizer.
What is the difference between Rhododendrons and Azaleas?
All Azaleas are Rhododendrons but not all Rhodondendrons are Azaleas. Azalea tends to be smaller-sized with smaller leaves and stems, while Rhododendrons can be larger with stout branching and larger bloom trusses. There can both be either deciduous or broad-leaved evergreens.
