Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes

Can't decide on a single type of dainty Dutch Iris? Maybe you love them all? Have your cake and eat it too, with the Dutch Iris Bulb Mix (assorted Iris x hollindica)! This pretty assortment of several varieties of Dutch Iris, each with colorful silky petals, in a range of flower colors from pale blue, purples, lavenders, and lemon through deep purple, bronze, rose, white, and gold, plus every combination of solid and multi-color Dutch Iris you can imagine!
This random assortment of hardy, perennial bulbs will surprise you this spring when they jump out of the ground mid to late spring, popping up with your Daffodils and Tulips. But why wait? Pick up an extra packet of bulbs to force indoors this winter! Then transfer them outside for the year and then every year after that!
Dutch Iris happily naturalizes in the garden bed, adding 18-20 inch tall edging and tight vertical clumps of greenery that form vase-shaped groupings. Spreading and multiplying throughout the landscape outdoors in USDA planting zones 6 to 8. But any growing zone can enjoy these bulbs as winter indoor color, or outdoors in seasonal planters and pots.
Planting and Application:
Dutch Iris Bulbs are space-saving and easy to care for! Ideal as border and pathway edging, great as groupings for eye-popping varied color, while taking up very little space! But they more than makeup for their size because of the amount of impact they impart on their surroundings!
Use as front and mid-garden border accents and vertical texture throughout Cottage gardens, cut flower borders, and around the outskirts of rain gardens and water features where they will love the moisture availability.
Dutch Iris can be used in containers and mixed planters and well-drained porch pots for a vibrant and scented focal point and vertical thriller! Their mixed color combination and upright textural elements look best in drifts, winding rows, or groupings for maximum effect. Not to mention catching the attention of the neighbors and every early-emerging pollinator in the area!
- Random Mixture of Dutch Iris Varieties & Colors
- Sweetly Scented & Pollinator-Friendly
- Vertical Grass-Like Green Foliage
- Great Cut Flowers & Container Thrillers
- Specimen Groupings, Edging & Front Garden Rows & Massing
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Plant Dutch Iris in sunny, well-drained soil that won't get soggy, but remains consistently moist. Use a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch chips to help retain moisture and protect their bulbs (unlike other Irises that grow from rhizomes).
Every few years, it is recommended you divide the bulb clumps and clean out any older, non-productive roots to maintain vigor. Dutch Iris should be planted in fall outdoors, or force the bulbs during the winter or early spring indoors. Deadhead the flowers after they fade, but keep the leaves to make food for the bulb. Prune away the foliage after it yellows to the ground.
- Full Sun & Partial Shade
- Fast Growing in Fertile Well-Drained Soil
- Appreciates Mulched Beds & Regular Moisture
- Deadhead & Prune After Foliage Yellows
- Deer & Juglone Resistant
Who says you can only have one variety of Dutch Iris? Have them all with the Dutch Iris Bulb Mix from NatureHills.com! We'll hold your order and ship quality bulbs to your doorstep at the proper fall planting time based on your plant hardiness zone.
