The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Looking to delight yourself and your garden visitors? Take whimsical inspiration from Dr. Suess with the exceptional winter beauty of First Editions® Candy™ Coralberry (Symphoricarpos x doorenbosii 'Kolmcan'). It looks great all season long, with attractive green foliage. Look for the blue overcast on top and a silvery-gray underside of the leaves.
You might just be surprised how versatile these small, showy shrubs can be in the landscape! They have a playful side with their pretty pink pearls, but their form is excellent and works beautifully even in formal settings.
Candy™ Coralberry is a fine-textured bushy plant that produces small flowers in summer. They'll be quite welcome in a Butterfly Garden and provide plenty of nectar for beneficial pollinators, too. This modern cultivar was painstakingly developed by the world's best plant scientists. With a compact habit, Candy™ Coralberry puts on a spectacular show!
Also known as Snowberry, this hybrid selection can be grown in the ground or kept in large outdoor containers. Use it somewhere you'll see it in wintertime, as the flowers morph into a wonderful berry display that rivals Holly and Beautyberry for impactful charm!
Leave them on the shrub to enjoy the persistent display that remains showy all winter in the landscape! Each arching branch is frosted with pink berries. Deer tend to leave them alone, but you'll give the local songbirds a late-season food source. Teach children to leave them alone, as they have a bitter taste and contain saponins which are found in shampoo and soap.
Coralberry is a member of the Honeysuckle family, and is a native species to North America. Feel great about this choice to supply nectar and nutrients to wildlife in your area.
Planting and Application:
Start collecting vases and create long-lasting homespun bouquets to deliver to retirement homes and hospitals. Everyone could use a little cheering up, couldn't they? No Cutting Garden is complete without material for winter arrangements. Make people smile with gift vases of these laden cut branches with hundreds of candy-pink pearls.
Candy™ Coralberry also makes a great plant to decorate the edge of a woodland. Easily creating polite thickets and naturalized groupings that wildlife love!
The late-season berries are persistent winter interest and bird food! Use them to line the path to a special winter destination spot like an outdoor sauna, geodesic dome, Tipi or Yurt.
You'll love the look of a mass planting to make the most of the dainty flowering display and gorgeous berries. Plant them 18 inches apart on center, measuring from the center of one to the center of the next. Add them in a wide drift along the near end of your mixed border. Ensure you can reach them to harvest the magnificent cut branches!
Cover wide, open ground with their warm beauty. Add staggered rows behind them, planted in a tight zigzagging pattern. Plan for the fullest width listed on the Plant Highlights. With proper spacing, Coralberry plants can develop into a wonderful groundcover plant that fills and softens the look of your garden design.
Use in a straight line to create low informal screening or hedges. The juxtaposition between their playful pink berries and their lovely arched form tells a dynamic garden story. Add to your foundation plantings. Like Red Twigged Dogwoods, these improved native shrubs add a unique touch that stands out in wintertime.
Even if you don't own your home, you can enjoy the fun winter look of this dear little plant. Place them in a series of matching outdoor containers on your balcony or use one as a "Thriller" on your porch!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Full sun is best for flower and fruit production, but these plants are tolerant of some shade. They need at least four hours of sunlight a day. Find a planting site with well-drained soil. If your soil stays soggy or wet a long time after rainfall...bring in additional soil to create an elevated mound or raised bed.
Give them a moderate amount of water regularly. They will remain happy and stress-free with supplemental water as needed, especially when grown in a container. Apply a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch to keep the roots moist and cool. Always pull mulch back away from directly touching the stems.
Candy™ Coralberry blooms on new wood from this year's growth. Prune or give them a haircut in late winter or early spring to shape them as you like. Renewal pruning is another great way to keep your shrub growing vigorously and fruiting best. Remove the oldest stems out at the ground every 3-5 years to keep them fruitful!
- Grows in Full Sun to Partial Shade
- Cold Hardy & Heat Tolerant
- Any Well-Drained Soil Type
- Moderate to Higher Moisture
- Prune Early Spring Before Growth Starts
- Fairly Deer Resistant
You'll love showing off your great taste! Order the Proven Winners® Candy™ Coralberry bushes from Nature Hills this season and make a difference. The Lorax would approve!
