Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Frosty blue-green evergreen shrubs, the Green Ice® Boxwood (Buxus x 'Krazgreen') is a gorgeous spring foliage shrub that emerges an icy hue before transforming into a deep-green sempervirens color for the rest of the year!

Green Ice® is an attractive medium-sized broadleaf evergreen shrub that exhibits a dense upright mounded and compact growth habit. No pruning is required to maintain this compact and mounded shape, and it reaches 3 - 4 feet tall and wide at maturity.

These are hardy evergreens that produce tiny flowers the bees adore, but you may not notice them until you get closer and smell their fragrant scent! These evergreens grow best in USDA growing zones 5 to 9 and are hardy versus deer, rabbits, and pests alike!

Planting and Application:

Green Ice® Boxwood provides an attractive effect in the landscape, both as a naturally kept shrub or formally sheared, handling hard pruning with ease and can even be trained into topiary specimens! They'll shine as focal points or in groupings and rows throughout the sunny landscape!

This mid-sized Boxwood creates a nice compact hedge or works well for foundation landscaping, never blocking your view from your windows, but providing lush screening as a hedge, backdrop, or enclosing an outdoor garden room! Line a pathway or define your yard's borders in pretty year-round color!

Prune smaller or into an accent shape and pot up in a decorative container or upscale planter and accent your sunny front porch or balcony with their greenery!

  • Icy Blue-Green Foliage Matures to Deep Green
  • Compact Growth & Rounded Form
  • Tiny Pollinator-Friendly Spring Blooms
  • Formal or Informally Grown Broadleaf Evergreen
  • Low Hedges & Screening, Property Division, Containers & Backdrops!

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Boxwood shrubs prefer moist, well-drained soil and require very little care. Preferring full to part sun, any site with ample moisture is fine for your new plantings, but once established, Boxwood only needs supplemental moisture during drought and peak summer months in warmer growing zones. It is best to mulch to keep the root system cool and moist, the evergreen foliage needs to be protected from drying winds, especially in colder growing zones. Water evergreens in the fall to help prevent windburn, and spray with wilt-stop according to package directions.

Trim Boxwoods after the first flush of new growth in the spring, or you can shear your shrub to keep that formal look. If left untrimmed, it has a classic free-form growth! This Proven Winners® Boxwood is even deer and pest-resistant!

  • Full Sun & Partial Shade
  • Well-Drained Rich Soil
  • Moderate Moisture Needs
  • Shear or Prune After The First Flush of Growth
  • Deer, Rabbit & Pest-Resistant

Cool green in the spring and deep green for the rest of the year, the Green Ice® Boxwood will add depth and dimension to your landscape without any maintenance! Now available at Nature Hills Nursery!
