To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Pretty lavender-tinged blue daisy-like flowers, the Blue Shades Anemone bulb pack (Anemone 'Blue Shades') is a pretty azure petalled spring flower, with showy yellow eyes! It proves a plant doesn't need to produce huge blooms to make an impact, instead producing carpets of 2-3 inch wide blossoms over the mounds of fine-cut green foliage!
They produce bloom after bloom from early to mid-spring, and their flowers bring delightful cheer! Not only are Anemones reliable and worth their weight in blooms, but they are vital pollen and nectar sources for early emerging butterflies and bees!
Also known as Windflower, Anemones are hardy in-ground year-round throughout USDA planting zones 7 to 10. But northern growers can use these fast-growing ornamental bulbs as annual accents in seasonal containers. They can also be forced indoors for winter or early spring color.
Planting and Application:
Ranging from lavender to mauvy, to blue, the cheerful blooms of Blue Shades Anemone complement the yellow of Daffodils, the satiny petals of Tulips, and the pretty blue tones of Muscari. Use these low-growing plants as borders and edging along the fronts of your landscape beds, as frilly pathway edging, or as low groupings and rows winding through a garden bed.
In the garden bed, Anemone foliage goes dormant once the flowers are done, hiding from the hot summer sun. This means these showy spring blooms steal the show all spring, but then are grateful to larger plants to take center stage, happily hiding behind their later emerging foliage and shade. Plant among your Rose Garden, rambling through Cottage and mixed perennial gardens, or among mixed shrub borders. They are even darling and colorful when scattered beneath the canopy of larger shrubs and trees.
Perfect for containers and mixed planters, Anemone happily acts as fillers and spillers in your seasonal pots! Add cheer to your patio and porch containers, around seating areas, and balcony window boxes with Blue Shades Windflower.
- Cheerful Lavender-Blue Daisy-Like Blooms
- Profusion of Lightly Scented Flowers All Spring
- Pollinator-Friendly
- Cut-Leaf Green Foliage Mounds
- Front Border, Edging, Pathways, Garden Beds & Containers
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Anemone tubers flower best in partial sun, handling some full sun in cooler climates. Provide a moist, well-drained location with plenty of organic matter and a 3-4 inch layer of mulch over their roots. These spring-flowering plants must be planted in the autumn. Soak the tubers overnight before planting and water the area very well after planting. It is recommended that you plant Anemone tubers about 2-3 inches deep and at least 4-6 inches apart.
Deadhead after the flowers fade, but keep the leaves to make food and new bulbs for next year. Remove the foliage once it dies back. Fertilize in early spring before the plants emerge.
- Full Sun (Cooler Climates) & Part Sun/Part Shade
- Moist Enriched Soil
- Must Be Well-Drained - Not Particular About Soil pH
- Deadhead After Flowers Fade & Prune Foliage When It Yellows
- Deer & Rabbits Seldom Bother These
