Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Beaver Creek Fothergilla (Fothergilla gardenii 'Klmtwo' PPAF) is a fantastic dwarf ornamental flowering shrub with loads of new perks while retaining all of its hardy native genetics! From white bottle brush blossoms that Hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees adore, to the unique veined, scalloped leaves that turn a dramatic array of fall colors, these tough beauties are shockingly underutilized in the home landscape!

The entire little 2-3 foot tall and wide shrub becomes covered in honey-scented little white bottlebrush blooms before the blue-green leaves arrive on the scene. They are rounded and have scalloped edges for a delightful effect. Once temperatures drop, the red fall color flushes the entire bush with touches of purple, orange, and yellow in the mix!

Also known as the Witch-Alder or Mountain Witchazel, Beaver Creek is a select deciduous cultivar of the gorgeous native shrub found throughout woodlands and swamps of the southeastern United States. Hardy in USDA growing zones 5 through 8, and form thickets and colonies with their polite suckering.

Planting and Application:

These are gorgeous low-hedges and property definition with three seasons of beauty and interest! Use as facer shrubs along an older evergreen hedge to hide their leggy bare lower stems. Use as a low backdrop to Perennial and Cottage gardens, adds beauty to your foundation plantings, and softens the edges of retaining walls, stone stairs, and around outbuildings!

Beaver Creek Fothergilla favors moist soils, so does well on the outskirts of ponds, water features and Rain Gardens. Pollinators adore these plants, as do birds and wildlife! Plant groupings in the backyard for low privacy that spreads on its own (politely) creating a habitat for your songbirds to nest and take shelter in. These space-saving shrubs can even be kept in large planters with adequate drainage and winter protection.

  • White Bottlebrush Blooms in Spring
  • Honey-Scented Pollinator Magnets!
  • Scalloped Blue-Green Leaves & Amazing Fall Color
  • Small Scale Dwarf Deciduous Shrub
  • Specimens, Hedges, Backdrops, Thickets & Wildlife Appeal!

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Dwarf Fothergilla does best in full sun and partial shade, and you'll enjoy more flowers in 6 hours of sunlight a day or more! Plant in a well-drained, consistently moist, slightly acidic location that's enriched and mulched with 3-4 inches of arborist bark chips. These plants are low-maintenance and only need to be tidied up with light pruning right after blooms fade.

  • Moist Well-Drained Soil
  • Appreciates Mulch & Slightly Acidic Conditions
  • Fairly Deer Resistant Native Cultivar
