Sonic Bloom® Wine Weigela

Sonic Bloom® Wine Weigela - Reblooming Wine-Tinted Tones

Meet the showy and ever-flourishing Sonic Bloom® Wine Weigela (Weigela florida 'Sonic Bloom Wine'), a Proven Winners® gem that's been bred to keep on blooming long after most shrubs have thrown in the towel. This deciduous flowering shrub bursts with deep magenta buds that open to vibrant pink flowers not once, but repeatedly from spring through frost!

Not only does it rebloom without any deadheading, but it also flaunts dark burgundy-purple foliage that stays rich all season, giving your garden nonstop color and contrast. Naturally forming a dense, upright mound, this Weigela reaches about 4-5 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide. Its foliage is a deep wine hue—hence the name—that plays beautifully against the bold pink blooms!

In fall, the leaves may pick up additional coppery tones. While it doesn't fruit in a notable way, the flowers are irresistible to hummingbirds and other pollinators, making it a standout in wildlife gardens.

Sonic Bloom® Wine is hardy in USDA Zones 4-8 and comes from a long lineage of durable, easy-care Weigela cultivars beloved for their resilience and charm. It hails from East Asia originally, where native species have long been admired in gardens and temple landscapes.
