This versatile perennial can take full sun in cooler zones if Astilbe receives good moisture and mulch. Otherwise, give it a part shade or full shade for warmer zones. This Astilbe prefers moist,well-drained soils with a high percentage of organic matter. If your soil is poor, consider adding a few handfuls of compost to the backfill soil when planting.

You'll also want to use Nature Hills Root Booster beneficial soil additives when planting. Over time, enrich your soil with mulch and top-dressings of compost. Apply a phosphorus-rich, slow-release fertilizer in early spring.
