Repeat Customer INCOMING!!!

I amended the sand we have here in Florida with a light blend of slow-release 10-10-1, crab and lobster shell mix, and Azomite. Gently blended into the soil. I then planted the beautiful 1-gallon roses I purchased and filled in with a Box store brand compost. Watered heavily and left it alone, just lightly watering 1-2x a week with no rain. 1 month later, they have grown 2 ft and are looking for a place to latch on to. They are outdoing my expectations already. The price was excellent, the delivery was fast, and the product was A+ quality.

That soil prep sounds dialed in for Florida sand. Crab and lobster shell, Azomite, and a balanced slow-release fertilizer gives those roots a real foundation to push from, and two feet of new growth in a month on Blaze Improved shows it. As the canes get longer, give them something to grab early so they train in the direction you want rather than sprawling. We look forward to your next order, Kenneth.

Better than I could have believed!

Large plants and one rose had several blooms on it. Best plant order by mail I’ve ever received. I will definitely buy from this company again!

Climbing roses can be tricky to ship well, so it's great to hear the plants arrived in solid shape, blooms and all. The Blaze Improved is a vigorous grower once it gets established, so give it something sturdy to climb and it should reward you for years. Thanks for the kind words, Laurel, and we look forward to your next order. The Nature Hills Team

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Blaze Improved Climbing Rose grow well in my planting zone (e.g., zone 5 or 10)?

  • Blaze Improved Climbing Rose thrives in USDA zones 6-9. If you're in zone 5, this rose won't survive your winters reliably. Zone 10 gardeners may find it struggles with extreme heat despite its improved heat tolerance. Choose a rose specifically bred for your zone's conditions.

What are the sunlight requirements for the Blaze Improved Climbing Rose?

  • The Blaze Improved Climbing Rose requires full sun to produce its vibrant scarlet blooms from spring through fall. This heat-tolerant climber needs at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily to thrive in zones 6-9. Plant in your sunniest spot for best flowering and shop at Nature Hills for healthy specimens.

Is the Blaze Improved Climbing Rose disease-resistant and low-maintenance?

  • Yes, Blaze Improved was specifically developed for enhanced disease resistance, heat tolerance, and adaptability. This climbing rose thrives in zones 6-9 with minimal fuss once established. Provide full sun and basic rose care for reliable blooms from spring through frost.

When does the Blaze Improved Climbing Rose bloom, and does it rebloom?

  • The Blaze Improved Climbing Rose blooms from spring through fall with reliable repeat flowering until frost. This vigorous climber produces clusters of scarlet-red semi-double flowers continuously throughout the growing season. For best blooming performance, plant in full sun and provide sturdy support for its 12-14 foot canes.

How is the Blaze Improved Climbing Rose shipped—bare root or potted—and is it healthy upon arrival?

  • Blaze Improved Climbing Rose ships as a healthy, field-grown bare root plant during dormant season or in containers during growing season. Nature Hills carefully packages all roses to ensure vigorous root systems arrive ready to establish in zones 6-9. Plant immediately upon arrival for best results.

Will the Blaze Improved Climbing Rose survive winter in colder zones like zone 4?

  • The Blaze Improved Climbing Rose is hardy in USDA zones 6-9 and won't survive zone 4 winters without protection. In zone 4, you'd need to provide heavy winter mulching and potentially wrap the canes, but success isn't guaranteed. Consider cold-hardy climbing roses rated for zone 4 instead.

How fast does the Blaze Improved Climbing Rose grow, and what is its growth rate?

  • Blaze Improved Climbing Rose is a vigorous grower that reaches 12-14 feet tall and 4 feet wide at maturity. This reliable climber establishes quickly and blooms repeatedly from spring through fall in zones 6-9. Provide sturdy support structures from planting to accommodate its strong, flexible canes.

How do I train and prune the Blaze Improved Climbing Rose on a trellis or fence?

  • Train the flexible 12-14 foot canes horizontally along your support structure for maximum bloom production. Prune in late winter by removing dead wood and trimming back side shoots to 2-3 buds. Secure canes with soft ties as they grow throughout the season.
