You will want to care for this gentle giant carefully by planting in well-drained soil with full sun to partial shade when they are young. Water young trees well and do not let them dry out, the life and longevity of your tree make it easier for you in the long run for deep roots and drought resistance.

To keep your Sugar Maples healthy and stress-free, apply 3-4 inches of mulch over the top of the roots, and don't be afraid to drop the hose at the roots when there is a dry spell. Prune after the sap has finished running in the spring to correct growth and form.
