Happy with the Chaste Tree

The Chaste tree was very healthy upon arrival. I followed guidelines for how to place in ground. It is growing and thriving.

A healthy start and good establishment in the ground is really the best outcome you can hope for with a new tree. Chaste Trees tend to reward that early care with strong growth, and once they settle in they're quite tough. Thanks for sharing how it's doing, Janie.

Arrived in great condition and already has multiple new leaves on it.

New leaves showing up right after arrival is a great sign the roots settled in well. Chaste Trees tend to take off once they get established, so you have a good season ahead. Thanks for sharing the update, Cathy. The Nature Hills Team

Timely shipping

Timely shipping, plant arrived in excellent condition.
Would highly recommend this source for plants given
my positive experience.

A chaste tree that arrives in good shape is off to a strong start. They can be a bit slow to push new growth after transplanting, so don't worry if yours takes a few weeks to settle in before leafing out. Thanks for the recommendation, James. We hope it rewards you with years of those fragrant purple blooms.

Beautiful tree!

Tree arrived in great condition and was fluffed out on its own the day after unboxing. It looks like it has buds on it, so I may see flowers this year!!

Chaste trees can bounce back from shipping surprisingly fast, so it's great to hear yours perked up on its own overnight. Buds are a real encouraging sign, and if conditions stay warm, you have a good chance at blooms this season. Enjoy those flowers, Deborah, they're worth the wait. Thanks for sharing the update!

So far so good

So far so good. Seems to be thriving even though it was doused with 2 inches of rain

Chaste trees do handle a good soaking better than many shrubs, so that's encouraging to hear right out of the gate. Give it a season to settle in and it should reward you with those lavender spikes that pollinators can't resist. Thanks for sharing the early update, Ann. We hope it keeps on thriving for you.

Give it a full season to establish its roots before expecting much top growth, and come summer you should start seeing those lavender flower spikes that make this tree so worth the wait. I love Chaste trees!

I love Chaste trees and when we moved 3,000 miles from WA State to Alabama I was afraid I wouldn't find one.
It is growing and looks great!

Moving 3,000 miles and still tracking down your favorite tree, that kind of dedication is what good gardens are built on. Chaste trees really do thrive in Alabama's heat and humidity, so you picked a great spot for one. Thanks for sharing the update, Laurie. The Nature Hills Team

Frequently Asked Questions

Where to buy chaste tree?

  • Chaste Trees (Vitex agnus-castus) are available at most nurseries and garden centers, especially in hot climate regions where they thrive in Zones 7-9. Look for them in spring when nurseries stock heat-loving plants. Choose a specimen with healthy, silvery-green foliage and plant in full sun for best flowering results.

How tall and wide will a mature Chaste Tree grow?

  • In Zones 7-9, Chaste Trees reach 15-20 feet tall and wide as multi-trunked specimens. In cooler Zones 5-6, they die back in winter and regrow as 6-8 foot shrubs each season. Give yours full sun and well-draining soil for best results, available at naturehills.com.

Is the Chaste Tree considered a fast-growing or slow-growing plant?

  • The Chaste Tree is a fast-growing powerhouse that can reach 15-20 feet tall in warmer zones (7-9). Even in cooler areas where it dies back to the ground each winter, it shoots up vigorously each spring to produce full flower displays. Give it full sun and well-draining soil for best growth rates.

Is the Chaste Tree deer resistant?

  • Yes, Chaste Tree is highly deer resistant due to its aromatic, sage-scented foliage that deer find unappealing. This makes it an excellent choice for areas with heavy deer pressure. Plant it in full sun for best results and maximum flowering.

How drought tolerant is the Chaste Tree once established?

  • The Chaste Tree is extremely drought tolerant once established, laughing at sweltering temperatures and dry conditions. This heat-loving powerhouse thrives in Zones 7-9 where summer stress breaks down most plants. Give it full sun and well-draining soil for best results.
