Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes

Growing Zones 5-10
Thuja are easy shrubs that add color and texture to any garden! Generally, very quick growers, the Proven Winners® Fluffy® Western Arborvitae PP#30,762 (Thuja plicata 'SMNTPGF') is no exception. What Fluffy® brings to the table that is different from other Thujas, just as its name implies - fluffiness!
Fluffy®'s foliage is so feather-like that you just want to give it a big hug or pet it! The bright yellow-green foliage lends such great texture to the evergreen border that we can see this being the new go-to foundation plant.
Especially heat-tolerant, Fluffy® Western Arborvitae handles USDA planting zones 5 to 10. This evergreen shrub grows into a sizable 6 - 10 feet in height and 6 to 8 feet wide. Disease and pest-resistant Arborvitae are wonderfully low-maintenance and easy to grow!
Landscape Application:
They are usually grown for their ability to quickly screen an area or fill up a space. Fluffy® works really well with dark-leaved companions like Smoke Trees and Chinese Fringe Flowers. It is also a great foil for darker green evergreens and Fir trees. Honestly, you can use Fluffy® just about anywhere and be happy with the results!
Fluffy® is very hardy and burn-resistant, even though it has such bright, soft needles. It doesn't lose its color in the winter months, standing up to even blankets of snow! Plant banks and hedges for privacy and as windbreaks, or in groupings that shelter birds and wildlife.

- Soil: Easily grown in average, well-drained soil; adapts to a wide range of soils.
- Sunlight: Best in full sun but tolerates part shade, especially in hotter climates.
- Watering: Prefers humid weather with regular rainfall; provide periodic deep waterings during hot, dry weather. Give a long, deep drink before winter to reduce windburn risk.
- Mulching: Apply a 3–4 inch layer of mulch to conserve soil moisture and insulate the root system.
- Pruning: Prune in spring after the first flush of growth to remove crossing branches, shape the shrub, and clean up any winter dieback.
- Slow Growing: Won't Outgrow Its Space
