The gorgeous Golden Globe Arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis 'Golden Globe') is a plant that will brighten up any landscape with its bright foliage! Golden Globe has a very nice, round, globe shape that doesn't get out of control and rarely needs much maintenance to keep it looking tidy.

The foliage is very dense, with a beautiful, golden-yellow color on the outside of the plant and nice, bright green in the interior section, giving it a glowing two-tone effect! The fluffy and soft texture adds its own beauty to your garden!

Urn-shaped cones, about ½-inch long, mature in autumn and change to a reddish-brown, providing winter interest and bringing in the birds to feast and shelter in the dense branches. Growing throughout USDA planting zones 4 to 8 and growing into a sphere 3 - 4 feet wide and tall.

Landscape Application:

Golden Globe is most often seen as a short shrub for brightening up your foundation hedge and is a great, carefree choice for accent plantings and front yard landscaping beds to create a cohesive effect that ties your home's curb appeal together.

When planted close together Golden Globe makes a nice medium-sized hedge or border that acts as privacy, screening, and backdrops throughout your garden. Their bright color adds pops of color to mixed shrub borders and even in containers on sunny porches and patios, balcony gardens, and front entry urns!

  • Lush Gold-Yellow Green Color
  • Naturally Keeps A Round Shape

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Easily grown in average, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade, especially in hotter climates. It tolerates a wide range of soils and prefers humid weather with regular rains. In hot and dry weather, periodic, deep waterings are advisable and a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch maintains moisture consistency and insulates the root system. Rarely needing pruning, remove crossing branches, wayward growth, and winter dieback. Give these shrubs a good long drink before winter to help prevent windburn.

  • Wide Range Of Sun & Soil Tolerances
  • Moderate Moisture Needs
  • Prune If Needed In Spring
  • Slow Growing, Won't Outgrow It's Space
  • Easy To Grow!

The reason I gave 4 stars was due to being smaller than expected plants. I have been spoiled by Natures Hills plants in the past being larger than expected. I'm sure these will catch up but right now they are the size of a bowling ball.

Dear Elizabeth,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us! We truly appreciate your honest feedback and homespun loyalty to Nature Hills plants. We completely understand how receiving smaller-than-expected plants can be a little surprising, especially after having enjoyed larger specimens before.

Rest assured, many healthy plants start out compact as they acclimate and develop strong root systems. With your care, they’ll likely thrive and flourish just as beautifully in no time. To help the process along, be sure to monitor watering, provide them with adequate light, and consider feeding with a balanced fertilizer if you haven’t already. If you’d like, we can also send along some personalized care tips based on the specific plants you ordered—just let us know!

Thanks again for trusting us with your garden. We are excited to see your plants grow and catch up to your expectations!

Dear Elizabeth,

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughtful feedback with us. We truly appreciate your loyalty and kind words about the health of your plants! We understand how exciting it is to receive larger-than-expected specimens and how a more petite size might feel a bit surprising.

While these particular plants arrived smaller than you anticipated, their compact size often allows them to adjust more easily to new environments, and we’re confident they’ll grow and thrive beautifully with a little time and proper care. If you’d like, we’d be happy to share some specific tips tailored to your plant variety to help encourage vigorous growth in the coming weeks.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or for further advice — our team is always here to support your planting journey.
